#5 rushing D in the country. We have half of the equation right.... :P

1/3 of the equation right. #1 in sacks and #5 in rushing D. Near the bottom in forcing turnovers and dead last in pass defense.

Offense in general? we lose 3 starters on offense. Granted they Are QB1 RB1 and WR1 but we actually have good depth at all of those. 3 guys behind Tannehill that could start for 4 B12 teams right now as RS Freshman or Freshman, C-Mike will come back (Sherman's influence) Ben Malena and RS running backs are all good, and WR depth is probably the best its ever been at A&M, got Swope/EZ/Hicks/McNeal all back next year.

C-Mike's coming back, as is the entire Oline. Swope and Nwachukwu will reprise their roles at WR.
Replacing Tannehill, Fuller, and Gray won't be easy, but let's not act like A&M won't still have some pieces next year.

Our Rush D isn't as good as it is ranked. We are only playing pass happy teams that do nothing but throw the ball. Given that, our Pass D isn't as bad as it is ranked. Granted it still blows, but it is not dead last bad.

Also, we are #1 in sacks. Theres a significant chunk of negative rushing yards that should be credited to pass defense, rather than rush defense.

Because we have a piss-poor secondary, TimmyD has resorted to a blitz happy defense. It's very risk/reward though--hence our leading in sacks yet bringing up the rear in pass D.
That said, we've faced quite a few air it out type offenses, and I'll be curious to see what happens the rest of the year as we play a few more traditional teams. I think it'll balance out a little.

Until OU puts up 750 pass yards on us anyway...

Count me in the camp that thinks the A&M/OU game will be closer than many believe. Not a sunshine pumper, but we did beat these guys last year, and we've got little to play for but pride this year--could be a favorable result for A&M if everything falls right. We'll see.
