I've come to understand that a tailgate involved drinking alcohol and cooking food.

Which people do at Ole Miss. We just cook our food at home then bring it to the tailgate.

The only rule about liquor and beer is that drinks have to be in a cup and any bottles or cans have to be put away in a cooler. I like the rule.

You can grill at home and bring it to the tailgate.

That is why the grove sucks. It is no better than any other tailgating done by the SEC powers but all the Rebs have is The Grove so its conveinent to bring up. People can say "Alabama is a great team, LSU is always talented but Ole Miss? Um well the Grove rocks".

If there was no danger, then Ole Miss Black Bears would bring grills. It enhances the experience.

I like that everyone has cups, it makes the pictures less obnoxious, and adds to the "classiness"... but it's sort of ridiculous you can't just leave the bottles out, take shots, or have a keg. Also I was warned repeatedly that if you didn't have a lock on the cooler, cops have been known to go in to your cooler and pour booze out. How ridiculous.

Are you lying? That wouldn't be very 'civilized' of you. Is the rule no alcohol, but the way around it is to put it in a cup?

Why would you like this rule? Let me guess, it has to do with the whole 'civilized' thing. A civilized man wouldn't be seen with a beer can in his hand.

Yeah this is a recent development that started last year. If a tent is unattended and there are coolers without locks on them, they'll go in there and pour everything out. It is bullshite.

Not the same and you know it. Again, we both know that if there was no danger, and grills were allowed, Black Bear fans would tailgate with them. It enhances the experience.

We hear you.

But we somehow manage every home game.

Be sure to walk through The Grove and prepare to be well fed with plenty of libations.

Go watch the Univ. of Texas student's video on Youtube. 3 minutes -- Burnt Orange Tailgating Ole Miss. 107,000 hits. Nice soundtrack - Take a Walk.

There is no "no alcohol" rule. Whoever told you that was lying.

Because having beer cans and bottles out everywhere looks trashy, yes.

So they have taken your fire. Taken your beer. Taken your liberty. Taken your song.

I can't imagine why they would think they could get away with this..

Oh wait, I found it.

I don't know that those are Ole Miss frat guys but it wouldn't surprise me. The freshmen that walk around and try to be a frat star always have on blazers that don't fit.

I have just looked at who has posted on this thread. There is not a single Missouri poster.

We've been played, again.

I can sort of be down with this... I liked how everyone had cups... but no kegs? Really? Absolutely terrible rule. A keg is greatness.

I wish I could act like this didn't happen at A&M as well. We don't have the Greek life y'all have, but it's still there, and freshman try soooo hard.

Actually the only freshman wearing blazers should be the fraternity pledges, because thats game day attire. If you're not a pledge are doing it, you're a try hard
