You say deserving, others say best. The point is, by the rules, the two most deserving teams are number 1 and 2 in the bcs standings. And clearly in 2011, the two most deserving teams were in the game. As far as your claims about who voted what when, you've already been proven to be full of shite there. Look at the link alahunter just posted. Then look at the margin in the BCS polls. Even if there had been no air force coach voting 5th, would have made no difference. And no one voted them 6th.
None of this would matter to you if LSU hadn't shat the bed in the biggest game in program history.

Yes, but how do you know OSU wouldn't have beaten LSU? If they did, it would be 1-0 OSU instead of 1-1

Doesn't matter. They weren't one of the top two rated teams.

It doesn't matter. They were number 3, and therefore ineligible for the game.

We were taking about the coaches poll genius.

It's simply to match up 1 vs. 2.
Which is voted on by interested parties for one reason or another. OSU had hands down the best fricking offense that year. Better than Oregon and Better than WVU, respectively. Ran a better spread than Oregon and had better play-makers than WVU, *receivers* *eyeball test* WVU 460+yards against LSU, Oregon the Fastest O in the west. That is what LSU would have been playing. A team just as fast as Oregon and more accurate than WVU. So lets not act like Bama was the end all be all that year.

42 coaches voted Alabama 2nd in the final coaches poll. 17 voted OSU 2nd in the final coaches poll. That alone, should end the argument that most coaches believed Bama to be the #2 in the nation at that time. Regardless of how low anyone voted either team.

But when they've already played each other...
Is there some rule that says a rematch can't happen?

We had already won 3 National Titles before this. What makes that particular game any bigger than those?

How's it a boom, when you were discussing the Coaches poll?

Why single out only the coaches poll?

They had just as good of a resume as Bama. The only difference was that they didn't get a chance to play LSU at that point. They didn't lose to LSU, and they were trying to get a chance to at least play them.

Maybe Gundy shouldn't have said that Alabama was better than his own team?

a pretty good argument can be made that OSU had the better resume actually.

No it's a much better point, because one determines who is in the game and the other is a completely subjective opinion, which is ultimately irrelevant.

Because LSU is lacking in the undefeated category. They were on the verge of perfection.
