Sumrall will be good at Florida, it's just going to take him having time to assemble his roster.

10 wins when you are playing 14 games isn't as special as it sounds.
True. But Richt coached teams only played 14 games four times out of the 15 years he coached. And when he coached 14 games ha won 13,11,10 and 12 games,
So you agree that Richt reached a 10 win season after 14 games.
The "accomplishment" that I was responding to was how great a coach is to reach 10 wins. A 71% win percentage is not an accomplishment on a season. That is 8.5 wins out of 12.

Barely beat a 3-9 Georgia Tech.
This is a silly stat to bring up. I mean Saban lost to Louisiana Monroe. Does that make him a lesser coach?
You are comparing Nick Saban's first season (talent and coaching) to Mark Richt's last season (talent is my argument). And you are saying "all is well". Let that stew for a bit. See where your brain takes you.

There was zero senior leadership for Kirby on the 2016 squad.
This is a fair statement,
You could say accurate. The best seniors on the 2016 squad came over with Kirby (Maurice Smith).

This is a fair statement, but he was also left with a ton of junior talent.
Chubb
Michel
Isaiah Wynn
Dom Sanders
Aaron Davis
John Atkins
Lorenzo Carter
Bellamy
Javon Wims
There was a great junior class.
You are stretching yourself thin by including Aaron Davis, Dom Sanders, and Jonathan Atkins.

but I think people overstate the state of the roster sometimes.
Stating that there was an entire recruiting cycle bereft of talent is overstating the condition of the roster left to Smart?
Or it is an accurate statement?
That an entire class had zero contributors to the 2016 season?

He absolutely did. He also did it on 4 occasions when he coached less than14 games.

That is 8.5 wins out of 12.
quote:I never said "all is well." I did say that he is not given credit at times. My point was all coaches have hiccups at times. Kirby Smart lost to an unranked Auburn this year. Time to kick him aside and move on?
And you are saying "all is well".

Recruited by Mark Richt.

You are stretching yourself thin by including Aaron Davis, Dom Sanders, and Jonathan Atkins.

It's accurate to say that. Just like it is just as accurate to say that the juniors coming up formed the backbone of a team that played for the National Championship.
It is crazy to say that mark Richt was the greatest thing since sliced bread, but it is also crazy to discount his contributions and the talent he left. Yes. The senior class was bad. Awful, even. But that junior class was special and formed the core of our first team to play for a National Championship in 40 years.
All I am saying is give credit where credit is due.
