The biggest criticism I have of CMA's system is that he's pretty inflexible with it. With the right personnel, it'll work pretty well...until the competition figures it out and learns to game plan effectively for it. It always seemed like CMA didn't really have an answer for that - he'd run the system, and keep running the system, regardless - few to no adjustments. (We've really seen a contrast in style this year, with the best parts of CMA's system and flexibility.) Sometimes it'll be brilliant; other times, it'll be reckless and disorganized, and cause you to lose games late. Also, because the system relies more on the press, and quick guard play, it always seemed like we never quite had the size or skill to match up well with the "blue-blood" programs.
On his positive notes, he'll build a stronger program than you have, and if it's like at Mizzou, it'll be a program that emphasizes character. And it'll be fun to watch when in its "brilliant" moments. Wish you luck...except when we play each other!

They also have Texas talent on their roster......
Don't be posting any of these serious arguments to me. I'm just in here making jokes about WVU and National Merit Scholars being in the same conversation.
Don't rile the Aggies up about TCU. They stole their coach from Bama and found out his defensive coordinator had been winning his games for him all along.
Ya'll keep it going in here now!

Oh, and I feel pretty good about our chances to make the finals after Texas beat ISU. That should be an easier draw for us. If I were in KC, I'd definitely hit up Power & Light - it'll be pretty epic if we play kU. Baylor? Maybe not so much. (Assuming we beat bevo, of course!)

You're right. For the system to be successful, all the right parts have to be there, and they have to be 2 deep at each spot. That's a tall order. But we've seen it when all the pieces were there....bulldog PG who can lock down Grant Hill and Jamal Mashburn; A shooting guard you have to pick up at the half-court line; Long rangy guys at the forward spots who can shoot, drive, or post up and then turn around and wear you out at the top of that press; and a Center who can post you up or pull you out onto the perimeter. When it's all there, it's a great thing to watch.
I think 18 wins with this roster, and losing our best player before game 3, most realistic Hog fans are fine with the job MA did. His inflexibility with the system probably cost them some games late in the season because we didn't have the depth to play that style. However, I believe there was a method to what he was doing. Had to stick with it for 2 reasons. Those guys need the reps. Need to learn the traps and plays in real-time, and the best way to do it is baptism by fire. Secondly, I think he needed to show his commitment to it so they will buy in and be less likely to question it down the road. He's all-in with it and needs the guys to be that way too.

Funny story (to me anyway)....Several of the Big 12 mascots came to our hospital today to visit the sick kids. There was Pistol Pete, two Jayhawks, and Bevo. All my buddies back home know I have always hated texas, so I thought it would be funny to get my photo with Bevo. He comes over, and we get ready to take the pic and he motions for me to do the "Hookem" thing with my hands. I throw them up and then invert them. He grabs my hand and points them up again. I point them down. He gets frustrated, shakes his head and walks away and I don't get the photo. Very funny moment.

I haven't read, and I am sure it's been mentioned...but didn't Mizzou AND A&M beat OU year before this past season?

I agree with everything you've said. I enjoyed watching Richardson's teams at Arkansas, those tournaments are what really made me a college bb fan. Fun and exciting to watch.
He's got to get his players, and teach them the system, which should take 2-3 years. I think that we started to plateau under Anderson when other teams figured out the system and started developing ways to take advantage of its weak points. We had no answer for that.
Plus, our players were selfish in that system; this year, the chemistry is much better and they really play as a team. I believe that lack of caring about who gets credit is what's really been the difference maker for us this year. Right now, I'm hoping we can win the bevo tourney and keep it rolling!

Yes, we both beat OU in 2010. Mizzou beat them when they were #1. I think A&M got them a couple of weeks later.

Kilo I owe you an apology. I didn't know I was having an exchange with someone who is in special Ed. It is not fair to treat folks like you the way I have I apologize. Just looking at your post above, in the 11 seasons you referenced, wvu bt 6 and 9 games 6 times. Thats more than half (gotta spell this stuff out for you now, I realize). And In each of the last 3 years they have failed to exceed 9 wins. I expect that to continue.
Again I apologize for the cracks about your reading comprehension. Now I understand you really are "slow."
LOL. Name calling....who's mad here again?

It's hard to say who was fishing and who was being fished, but it was a hell of a show nonetheless.

You're wrong, homey. You just destroyed your Florida pipeline. Guess it's time to start recruiting in Texas. That'll take a while to develop trust with the high school coaches down there, plus try convincing Texas kids to go to school in WV.
Good luck in the Big Who fricking Cares.

You know HOGan was doing a poor job trolling and getting his head bashed in when he can't even get Arky support when fighting a Mizzou battle

you have no idea what you are talking about
that pipeline has been there for 20 years with many former wvu players as HS coaches down there

Lots of FL kids that can't get into good schools end up at WVU. It happens.
I'm sort of a WVU fan so no flame. It's just the way it is.
There's tons of talent in FL and UF, FSU, USF, UM, etc. can't take them all.

we have no problem taking 3 star kids out of fl and getting a few 4 star guys like Geno Smith who had a shite load of offers including LSU,Bama and Florida

Didn't Geno have the grade issue I mentioned?
There's some math class requirement the screws a lot of kids down here.
