Stoops' arrogance cost OU big time

Stoops has a tied game and a fourth and a long one. Kick the FG, go up 10-7.
Later, late in the second quarter, 10 seconds left, instead of the FG they thrown an INT going for the TD. If they kick it, OU up 13-7 at half.
That could have put a lot of pressure on Florida's offense. Stoops' arrogance to go for the big hits when the FGs would have given them the lead and extended it, really cost them big-time.
Just my two cents.

Thats crazy talk. Going for it from the one was sound football. Go for the TD, and if you don't get it they are backed up. Get a stop and you are winning the field position battle, even without the points.
Before the half, they still had a timeout so why would you not try to score, and keep the option of the field goal with your timeout? The interception was a freaking fluke of a play. The entire defense seemed to have tipped that ball at least once.
Even if they went for FGs both times, do you really think Florida would have been under some major pressure by being down by six? Seriously?

Stoops just got out coached again. He and Saban sure know how to roll over in big games.

Didn't think it was a bad decision just didn't think he needed to quick snap the ball. He needed a little bit more confidence in his offensive line. Down, set, hut...

It's not a black and white issue. There is something to be said for getting the lead in the NC game. On the other hand, being agressive and failing isn't the end of the world due to field position.
The only way you can be wrong about this is to take a definitive stance on which was correct.

I was watching with a buddy, who is a GREAT high school coach, and we both said "if you can't get a yard for a TD in the national championship game, then you don't deserve to win it"...

I think you can debate whether that was a good call or not.

They should have gone for the TD at that point. They could have called something like a fade instead but regardless if he doesnt throw a pick, then the ball hits the ground and they kick a FG. 10 seconds left you have to take a shot at a TD if it's not 4th down.

Oversimplification.
Like I said, the only way you can be wrong is to take a definitive stance...which you've done twice.
Runner up for coach of the year in the NFL kicked the field goal in the playoff game last weekend.
LIke I said, it's not black and white.

Well, when you send in a play, you've "taken a stance" correct? I would have went for it both times. They don't let you sit on the sideline and philosophize the potential ramifications of your choice, and whether or not a tree falling in the woods makes a sound. I'd have made the same choices Stoops made.
Now I've taken a stance three times.
Now I've taken a stance three times.

Not black and white. Neither decision was wrong.

I never said it would have been WRONG to kick a field goal. I've only said that it was sound playcalling by Stoops to be aggressive and try for the TD's in both of those situations.

Stoops should have taken the points IMO.
