It is. From one of the best offensive minds to a guy who can't get an offense on the field worth two pennies.

You really think Gator fans would be mad that Spurrier tried to help a shitty coach save his job? Is this delusion or mental retardation?

He quit long before that game, but go ahead and tell yourself anything to take some of the sting away from the asswhippins he gave you while at UF.

Spurrier quitting on South Carolina still rubs me the wrong way.

You have to step back and it look at it through non-Gator glasses.

Head coaches tend to be alpha personalities. No head coach wants some ex-head coach around giving him tips and pointers. It comes across as insulting even if it's not meant that way. No coach wants those little tips even if they are helpful.

For better or worse, head coaches are determined to do things their own way.

The next head coach of UF will not want Spurrier to show up one day and start offering tips.

It's just not good for a program to have an ex-head coach still trying to actively be involved with the program.

His offense was going to get him fired, Spurrier stepped in to try to help him keep his job. Mac sucked dick. He is technically the worst offensive head coach at Florida in 70 years. So yes. Spurrier trying to save the man's job for him is a bad thing. The idiocy of the Rant is amazing. It really, really is.

I don't hate or even dislike the coach who holds our record for wins. He more than earned his pay at Carolina.

I do wish he had muffled some of his statements though.

While this I get.

Spurrier didn't jump in on anything. That's why it makes no sense anyone would care.

Spurrier never tried to assert authority.

He was ASKED TO HELP when hired BY MAC AND NUSS.

He gave them a few plays here and there(some they used), but Mac didn't want his help with QB's

That is all Spurrier said. He asked if he wanted help, Mac said no.

Add in. If you are struggling you look for advice. Meyer called Bill B over in New England many times in 2007. Spurrier used to reach out to Graves. That is how REAL coaches win. Seeking advice when they need help. Not cowering from it.

All coaching is borrowed anyways. Every Coach tou see on tv and asked theyll tell you
We all steal from each other.

Footballs been around over 100 years, hard to imagine with all of the great minds that came ahead that theres original ideas.

Bottomline, when your O is ranked in the 100s. You should be all ears to other input from ppl you respect in your profession

That game is what made him quit in season. They allowed Grayson Lambert to go 24-25 setting a UGA record that likely will never be broken.

Had Schotty actually looking like a competent OC. Lambert essentially was able to pull Miss Georgia off the strength of this game

Last but not least Spurrier can burn in hell.

He doesn't give a frick about us and loves y'all so much he refuses to pick between the two when we play. Remember, his wife is a USC alum.

Would Spurrier have helped him get a QB? That's what help he needed. I wouldn't want a former coach coming in and meddling either. You don't do that. If Shark boy had asked for his advice then sure.

Spurrier didn't meddle.

I feel like you guys don't know what that word means. Asking if Mac wants help is not meddling. It's asking if you want help. Meddling would be him trying to influence coaching decisions, which no reports show.

It's also said he gave both Nuss and Mac plays and they requested this. Mac came to his office the first day he was hired and said I'd like you to draw up a few plays for us. Spurrier did. Mac also told Spurrier he would like his help time to time. Spurrier did help once a week actually.

It's simply he was asked if he offered to help with the QB's, Spurrier answered the question. Mac did not want him to help with the QB's..which well..he'd still have a job lol

I think it's brilliant for Florida to let potential coaches know that they'll have such an offensive mastermind looking over their shoulder and providing input and helping to second guess their decisions. That will surely encourage more people to take the job.

This. Spot on.

Correct and it was bad before he got there.

IF I was McElwain I wouldn't let Spurrier help either. Spurrier would be the defacto HC the moment he walked on the field.

Spurrier is to Florida what Pat Dye is to Auburn.

There’s good and bad in that. Florida fans should hope that his meddling doesn’t lead to undermining etc. personally, I think he’s great. His quotes are famous and never ending. I still call FSU free shoes U

Everybody thought Jim was a good offense of coordinator because he was at Alabama and had success. Now if you give me nothing but 5 Star recruits on the line and sprinkle in some deer antler I could make a good offense.

Florida hired him because he took Colorado state off the door mat to conference champion.
