Howland is Stansbury 2.0. Pretty good recruiter but below average floor coach. His refusal to play anything but man to man defense hurt us in a few games.

Is this supposed to be an insult? Because I'm all in with competing for conference titles and consistent NCAA tournament appearances.

Winner, I am glad you have common sense. So many on this board do not and I do realize some people just like to deliberately troll and that is their prerogative to do so.

But I enjoy conversation that has people sharing opinions and being thoughtful with it.

Back to State, most people on this board don’t realize that Coach Richard Williams became coach in 1986. His first year was awful, second year a little less awful, third year slightly less mediocre, fourth year still below average. In the present day, he would probably be fired and/or run out of town.
However, in 1990-91, we broke through and won the SEC Regular Season Championship. Our first since 1963. We promptly got bounced in the NCAA.,
1992-1993 saw us fall back a bit. But in 1994, team went to the NIT, 1995-Sweet Sixteen, 1996-Final Four.
Move forward to Stansbury. His first couple of years were not necessarily great but then from his third year on until the Sidney fiasco he was consistently good.

Too many fans today have unrealistic expectations and where we would go through a valley years back and ride with our coach nowadays some fans are ready to show a coach the exit even when they WIN.

Witness Bama and Arkansas. Johnson and Anderson both won but were shown the exit.
It leaves me SMH.

So I am still excited that Coach Howland is our coach and the process of creating a winning program is going very well. The next step is getting back to the Tournament and winning a game or two, then going farther the next year. This year was the first step.
