Duke 1989
Between 1963 and 2012, a span of 50 years, Duke has one ACC title which was earned in the three year Spurrier era.

Keep in mind, that was before the ACC had Florida State. Clemson was a good program but the rest of the conference was pretty much dogshit.

Absolutely the best coaching job by Spurrier was in 1992 at UF when we lost a ton of talent the year before...what most people dont realize is that Spurrier inherited a very very stout Gator defense in 1990...defense wasnt the problem we had before..it was offense...so he put a third/fourth stringer in at qb (Shane Matthews) ands we promptly won...the 1990 SEC Championship was taken away from him by a minor act by the previous coaching regime...but in 1991 we won SEC with defense and offense. In 1992 we didnt have much impact from Spurriers first recruiting class and we were thin on both DL & especially OL. We got our butts kicked early by UT & Moo State, but then our TWO true frosh starters on the OL and the young defensive talent starting gaining confidence and experience...and UT fell apart and started losing...UGA had a loss...remember that in 1992 the SEC had the inaugural SECCG (in B'Ham of course) and it looked like UGA might win the east...well...we beat them on nHalloween night and won the east. Spurriers best job and Ive talked to him about it before and he agrees.

If you happen to talk to him again, tell him he's a whiny bitch.
