I only take exception to the claim that he is some great tactician.
Take it up with Saban, he's the one who said it.

He's everything you want in your CEO
That's contradictory

It's LSU fans who always enter Coach O in a discussion which has absolutely nothing to do with Coach O.
By the criteria that people use to argue against Kelly, Orgeron is a top 5 coach today.
I think that's the point many LSU fans use O to make because O is clearly not even a top 30 coach.

You can be a great CEO and not be an excellent tactician.
Kirby Smart wasn't calling offensive plays last season. But he's a great coach and great CEO.
This isn't rocket science.

Jumbo sucks dicke, Mack is washed up. Riley is a pu55y. Hard to have conference championships at Norte Dame. He won SEC West in 1st year, while Jimbo is yet to win. Riley chickened out and went to weak arse PAC 12. He don’t want none,

The word "tactician" used in this context wouldn't apply only to on field strategy therefore it's impossible to be a good CEO without being a good tactician.
I don't think anyone believes Kelly is some brilliant X's and O's mind.

Let it go.
It angers some when the Ed O argument is used against them because they understand that their criteria is flawed but they need it to convince themselves that Kelly sucks.

We don't use the words the same.
Agree to disagree. Cheers.

That would seem to be the issue.
Saban and I are using it more in a bigger picture context where you're using it more as a literal, game day, on the field strategist, manner.

I don't know anyone who gets angered by Ed O references.
It is more sad than anything.
Gene Chizik and Jimbo Fisher were icons to people once. It's kind of sad when fans cling to those icons. It's comes off as desperate.

I don't equate micro manager to a tactition.
One attributes attention to detail while the other attributes a high level of skill in a specific craft.
As I said, we see the word differently.

My apologies for screwing the pooch on the Oklahoma state reference.
I saw 7-5 bowl record but didn't count up the losses.
I was wrong.

Hence the flawed criteria

The word "tactician" simply means
quote:
a person who uses a carefully planned strategy to achieve a specific end.
Anyone who is any kind of "good" manager of anything, whether it be an offense, a football program, a supermarket, or a Fortune 500 company absolutely has to be a "good tactician."
You can't be one without the other.
Can you luck into success without being a good tactician? Absolutely. But to actually manage something successfully, you must be a good tactician.

By your definition, manager is a synonym to tactician.
And the words just don't work that way.

Well it isn't my definition, it's simply the definition of the word.

Manager is absolutely not a synonym of the word "tactician."
A great manager has to be a tactician.
A bad manager doesn't.

Your usage of the word was
Manager = tactician.
Great manager = great tactician
That's a synonym
