Bear Bryant had a great run throughout most of the 60’s, then a falloff occurred around ‘67-‘68.
1969: Alabama lost to Auburn, LSU, and Tennessee.
1970: Alabama lost to Auburn, LSU, and Tennessee.
1982: Alabama lost to Auburn, LSU, and Tennessee, and Bear Bryant retired.
However, between 1971-1981, Alabama went on a run. They were undefeated against LSU and Tennessee. Auburn’s only win was in 1972.
Alabama was 32-1 in that eleven year stretch against Auburn, LSU, and Tennessee. All three had a winning streak against Alabama heading into that era, and all three broke their decade long losing streak the same season.

By today's standards, Bear would have been fired in 1970.
