How exactly does Bama have a tougher one than Auburn? And LSU. Who have both played two top teams.. Does playing a cupcake really adversely affect a schedule that much?

The sad reality is that the general public is too stupid to realize a top ten win at a neutral field isn't equal to a win against an rcs opponent. An undefeated record is an undefeated record. UCF would have been destroyed by Alabama last year and everyone knows it.

it is the problem with the metrics that vary by site. It is the reason such a variety of computer polls were used in the BCS and still required the human aspect to be injected as 2 major parts of the bcs score. That said, USCe is still a top 5 SEC team in terms of SoS on a variety of legit sites:

SEC fans frothing over week 4 SOS is typical SEC superiority logic.
BTW the year OU scheduled UCLA (Nov 2013), they went 10-3. In 2017, FAU went 11-3 and Army went 10-3. So yeah weak but at least no FCS every year.

I wasn't saying that South Carolina's schedule isn't difficult, it is. I was saying that it's not fair for UCF to play a bunch of high schools then brag about being undefeated.
