Who said it was a problem? I really couldn't care less about it.

How about this:
If a team is faking to slow down a HUNH team like Auburn's, then throw the flag and give Auburn + 15 yards.
Seems fair enough to me....

Maybe the fake injuries aren't the problem.
Maybe football isn't meant to be played like basketball with continuous action.

Continuous? Do they not stop every 7-8 seconds to spot the ball?

How do you confirm it's fake in time to throw the flag? Will there be injury reviews now?
Make an injured defensive player (where the game had to be delayed) sit out the next four plays so he can be properly attended to.

imo there is no fake injury problem. in fact, there is no way to prove a guy is injured outside of the obvious very bad ones.
i just don't understand why people think there is a problem. i doubt it happens very often but i can't prove that anymore than people who say it's fake.
lastly, the hurry up is an OBVIOUS ATTEMPT TO RESTRICT DEFENSIVE SUBSTITUTIONS. maybe that is the problem. if the O can circumvent the defensives ability to substitute than the defense can circumvent the O's gambit. BOTH ARE PLOY'S, GAMBITS, TRICKERY, etc, etc.

Make it another subjective judgement call. The refs will get it right.

I'm sure others have proposed this and there may be an obvious reason it wouldn't work, but why not just say that if a player is "injured" and officials stop play, the player can't return for a quarter?
That is too long IMO. Maybe sit out 2 plays or maybe even the rest of the series would suffice. If he truly thought he was injured it might be in his best interest to sit out that long anyways.

Maybe they could go in, take a shower, maybe grab a bite to eat between each play too.

If someone does a Swain then have the SEC doctor inspect the injury and have the player sit out the rest of the season if found true.

The SEC office has the ability to review head shots and other behavior during games, and issue suspensions. They could do the same for obvious Swain type soccer-flops

i say at least one of the refs should be a doctor and the doctor ref would need to make the call if the guy is hurt or not. on a real important play, also determined by the honorable ref, a portable xray machine and other medical devices should be rushed on the field to assist said dr ref. his decision should be reviewed, at the expense of a timeout, by doctors in the pressbox who can only overrule the doctor on the fields judgement if the evidence is blatantly clear; examples are if the players bone is pretruding from his skin, unstoppable blood flow, lose of consiousness, etc, etc. folks, the "problem" must be solved. slowing down auburn and tejas a&m cannot be allowed to continue.

That makes the most sense, but it wouldn't occur until after the game and wouldn't stop someone from being a "sacrificial lamb" type deal in the championship game and flopping a few times to slow down a hurry up.

To the OP - I don't like the idea of sitting a player who was truly injured on a play for a quarter, maybe not even the whole drive, if they are able to return.
This is a tough issue to solve, but I honestly haven't seen the fake injury thing be that big a deal thus far. I just don't know how you expect the officials to make a judgment call of real versus fake in most situations (very few are obvious bush league, pussy moves).

Why are all the Auburn fans so sensitive on this subject.
I don't agree with the Op's thread point but, he was spot on the 'Aubie hysteria concerning flop call issues.
Did losing all those trees emasculate the fan base?

If a team wants to pull fake injuries AND avoid the scrutiny, they'll simply add this to the practice schedule:
Leg Cramps and How to Fake Them

I think greater security at stadiums will lower the number of hammers being broughtin.

You do realize if you did this you would have players dragging themselves off the field to avoid the sit out rule even if they are really hurt. Especially concussions.
This would make things more dangerous.

When it's that obvious, it should be a delay penalty or a charged time out... let the penalized team choose.
