amount of abuse the fields take
Baseball fields don’t take abuse. I’ve seen Bermuda on fields as north as Maryland and they play field hockey on those fields in the fall. Grass is fine all spring. Only reason to have a turf baseball field is because you’re trashy

Just making a factual correction.

Seeing more and more across the country are going to it. Don't have near the maintenance costs and a small fraction of the rainouts.

UGA spent $45M on Foley.
I prefer natural grass fields, but apparently many schools are going to this.
Sign of the times I guess...
UGA spends 45M on Foley Field
The Diamond Series field is used by more than 50 Division I schools, over 70% of artificial turf fields in that division, according to the company whose website say plays “like clay where they’re supposed to and like grass where they should.”
Coach Wes Johnson, who coached at Dallas Baptist and Central Arkansas — both of which utilized turf fields — made the push to go from natural grass to AstroTurf, joining programs like Vanderbilt, Oklahoma, Virginia Tech, Missouri and UCLA, which also play on that surface. Johnson said 48 of 56 games for Georgia will be played on artificial turf including at Texas and Kentucky.

Incest is legal in Georgia, not Mississippi.
Lmao I love this place
And just so im relevant to the thread. Turf anywhere in fair territory south of the Mason-Dixon should be a crime
