If the Bama defense was as fierce as its fans' defense in this thread, that poor guys face would still be intact.

Well, no one lives vicariously through 18 - 20 year olds quite like Bama fans.

Perhaps because every time any incident involving one of the hundreds of thousands of Bama fans makes a headline at even the smallest media outlet it is guaranteed at least a 10 page thread on this site.

sucks but this happens everywhere. I know a dude who got put in the hospital on the friday before a game by two dudes. That's why I don't yell at opposing fans at any point (plus I never really got the point, winning always made me happy enough)

Bama fans being bama fans. The kid is lucky he wasn't shot or stabbed considering the history of bama fans.

How fricking violent is it in Tuscaloosa that this is common behavior? I probably saw less than 10 fights total at Ole Miss, and certainly never saw a sucker punch. This just speaks volumes on trashiness if you think simply shouting Hotty Toddy after that big of a win deserves a sucker punch.

This is common for bama. All you have to do is track back all their losses. Last year at ole miss you had the bama fans throwing cups at ole miss fans. They shoot and kill each other over losses. Hell they even rape people when they win. Bama gonna bama

Boy, every fan-base has their bad apples but it seems some Bama fans take things to another level though. It's embarrassing, to tell ya the truth. I suppose with Bama having high expectations yearly, some crack under the pressure.

fwiw I never personally saw a fight like that in my time at Alabama (at least no fist fights between opposing fans on gameday)

- of course most of my friends are fairly reasonable and level headed

Tuscaloosa probably isn't anymore violent than Ole Miss. Stop with the holier than thou bullshite that comes way to easy on this website. Kid was running his mouth a probable drunk redneck took offense. Sucks for the kid. This shite isn't that uncommon.

Not defensive, per se, just feel like this happening, while moronic and needless, isn't necessarily news. It happens every week at every campus (including Arky fans fighting Arky fans after Toledo game). I've seen fights between opposing fans - including sucker punches - at Athens, Auburn, Alabama, Baton Rogue, and Gainesville. I've not seen them in starkville or Oxford (have not been to games in other SEC towns).

Are you sure you're not the offending party here? You didn't see shite because you were doing shite. Someone shouts "Tiger Bait" at you and it sounds to me that you think that's a justification for a fight? If you run into fights this often, it's probably not a coincidence.

What about tree poisoning, sexually assaulting unconscious people and crowd surfing?

Common?

You better stop they're going to get offended and blindside you. It's common on every campus though, so don't worry.

its no justification and I certainly don't think it is a reasonable excuse for hitting someone (I really think someone has to seriously cross the line to justify beating the shite out of them) but the people who feel the need to yell at people they don't know / the opposing fan base always made me shake my head and I hated it when people I was going to the game with would try to do it. Just enjoying your team winning with your friends and family should be enough.
