I think we would battle for 3-4th in the west too actually.
I don't see why you wouldn't be top 3 in the East next year. The East is absolutely wide-open with UGA and USC the favorites. Just do some damage while Tennessee and Florida are down, because that won't last forever.
It's borderline delusional to think you'd be top 3 in the West next year though. Fight for 4th, sure whatever. But to think you'd compete with Alabama, LSU, and Arkansas all year is silly.

You're ready, and you will do better than people think.
Listen to Finebaum for about 5 minutes and you realize that people in Dixie think that football only exists in places close enough for an RV to make a reasonable drive from Birmingham.
The truth of the matter is that Pinkel is a great coach, and his offense might have a Mike Leach effect. Being that you might night have the traditional style of offense or talent of the opponents you are playing, but that means the opposing defenses don't have the schemes, recruiting, or practice to counteract your offense.
Mike Leach was 3-3 in his last 6 years(04-09) against the Big XII's most dominant program during that stretch, OU. The same OU that won the Big XII 4 of those 6 years, and went to the BCS twice.
Missouri's largest problem might be maintaining home field advantage and sparking rivalries with conference opponents. Coaching and talent wise, they will be fine.
I'm very curious about A&M and Missouri's entrance in to the SEC, especially from a standpoint of the the spread.
The SEC schools, and a lot of their recent dominance has to do with keeping game changing players on the defensive side of the ball. Texas high school football has them lining up on the offensive side of the ball and slinging it around. The colleges in the region have adjusted accordingly. Wes Welker in my estimation should be an NFL Hall of Famer. The traditional SEC style of football doesn't have a role for a player like him, and would likely write him off like every Big XII school did except for Tech. Granted Tebow and Newton ran the spread, but that is vastly different than what is going through the high school ranks in the Lone Star State.
Mike Sherman's offense for instance, was still a West Coast offense, but it essentially made the slot receiver underneath pass the primary audible for what is a half back pass in the spread, and a running play for a pro style offense. The key being the mike linebacker.
What I think we will see is the more successful defenses still being able to run their base formations since the linebackers are athletes and can cover regardless, but if Missouri's offense is different enough from the rest of the SEC East, you'll see them higher in the pecking order than the inbred trailer trash in Dixie thinks they will be.

Not sure why you post here if you think that's what the SEC is. Were you in the small minority that wanted to join the PAC?

Mizzou's average season the last 9 years has been 8-5. The majority of those years were spent in the Big 12 north that looked like:
Kansas
K State
Mizzou
Iowa State
Nebraska
Colorado
and some combination of South teams:
Texas
Oklahoma
Oklahoma State
Texas Tech
Texas A&M
Baylor
Compare that to the division they'll now be playing in:
Georgia
Florida
Tennessee
South Carolina
Kentucky
Vandy
and some combo of:
LSU
Alabama
Arkansas
Auburn
Moo State
Ole Miss
A&M
I see playing in the SEC costing them at least 1 win per season and being a 6-6 team with a bowl win to finish 7-6.

Welcome!
But, if rumors are true, Columbia needs to change its partying laws.

It is just trash talk. Calm down. I know you have this giant love fest with the SEC, but they are our rivals now. They are the Dixie part, I live in the greatest State in the Union. I will call them trailer trash for the rest of my life or until A&M goes independent.

So they'll score 10 against Alabama or get beatdown by Ole Miss like Mike Leach did in his games against the SEC?

I see 7-5, with the winnable games being the 4 out of conference games, Kentucky, Vanderbilt and Texas A&M, though the last one will be a tough game. Alabama is the only certain loss I see. Florida and South Carolina are likely losses and while Georgia is likely a loss, the combination of playing them early and at home may help if one is looking for an upset. Even if we lose to Texas A&M, I believe we steal an upset somewhere between Georgia, South Carolina and Florida.

What rumors are those?

The tailgating scene/drinking laws seem a little lame as described by some of your fellow fans on this board.

That's strange because we have some really lax drinking laws in Missouri. You can have liquor, beer, while bars at your tailgate. Walk around downtown and campus with open containers on game day, and even on a car as long as you're not the driver

Dude, you forgot Nascar. There is other things besides football in Birmingham and Alabama. I also wouldn't recommend taking callers on Fbomb's show as "news" or "facts" about Birmingham. If you've never been here, please STFU.
I won't even comment thoroughly on the inbred trailer trash comment. But, why don't you wait till you visit a campus before you start spouting off stereotypes. I don't assume all Aggie fans are gay.

That's cool and all, but that's normal. They've just described a more laid-back, not as crowded, and less intense atmosphere. I'm sure the RV army pulling into town on Tuesdays can help change that though.

Thats because Columbia, Missouri is in the north. (just 2.5+ from Iowa! Less than 7 hours from Minnesota!) They have no where near the passion of the southern schools for football and tailgating.
