7.5 million is chump change to their athletic department. fisher and fisher only negotiated that contract.

with that being said, he still wont make them relevant. the program as a whole sucks

It’s only embarrassing to those who are not real savvy when it comes to negotiating and doing what it takes to secure the talent you need to move your organization forward. We did what we had to do to get the employee we wanted. You might be shocked to hear this, but it happens all the time in business dealings. We are making a commitment to be better. Time will tell of the juice was worth the squeeze.

Really? Link me to a post...

But you're partially right about sour grapes. I didn't want Fisher here, at all, so I don't really care where he goes. Not that I think he's a bad coach, it's more of a value proposition.

The other thing with LSU fans and aggie relates to the Chavis hire, which was hilarious. They paid him a FORTUNE, then were strutting around all cocky like they had already beat us. Most LSU fans felt like they did us a favor! So this situation does have a similar smell.

your theme would make sense if lsu literally didn't just try to hire the same person last year.

LSU didn't hire him because they didn't have the money to afford that outrageous request / weren't willing to pay that outrageous amount for a guy when you can pay a swamp creature 50% less to produce a better result.

Not necessarily. LSU wasn't willing to throw money at him. So why should we be embarrassed? At the end of the day, LSU and Texas A&M are still going to have very similar records, except our pockets won't be empty.

Just like Aggies think that paying Jimbo 75mm and $1/2mm+ per assistant will automatically result in SEC West championships, SEC title appearances, and playoff runs.

I for one don’t. I hope for improvement... a slower paced offense which will result in a more rested / better defense. That and some luck to give us a shot at an SEC title or two. I don’t expect anything more and would be estatic at this given our past 20 years.

Your post makes 100% sense if you hired Nick Saban. But unfortunately you didn't.

sorry, i realized that might come off wrong but decided not to edit. I meant lsu posters didn't say the ags CAN't hire jimbo because they already did hire him.

understandable. I thought the chavis hire would cement sumlin and work out, but it didn't, and tennessee fans alluring to third and chavis as well smelled fishy at the time.

This is a great hire. they don't hand out trophies to the most monetarily efficient football programs. The ags want to win and I'm glad they're going all in.

so the theme is efficiency? that's cool but the ags want to win games and I don't think they had an O up their sleeve like lsu.

Alright seriously, at this point I'm convinced that if LSU had hired Fisher last year the fans and alumni would have rioted like Tennessee cause so many people DID NOT want him...like AT ALL!

Not at that price to risk we couldn't afford to get out like Aggies

then why contact him? he wasn't going to leave for a similar contract.

losing out on saban and jimbo to save money may be a smart move money-wise, but it's not smart if you're trying to win games. O has been better than most people thought he would be so far tbh.

If you mean this literally then yeah, I agree. LSU couldn't afford the contract and buyout that it would cost if this doesn't work out. A&M can.

My original question is still valid.

My belief is that AnM should be embarrassed that they just had to shell out ransom money for a B+ coach. You're Texas AnM. You brag about money money money and Texas Texas Texas all the the fricking time.

You have the resources, the facilities, the talent pool in Texas, and foot print to be a dominant program. You should have coaches begging to come to you, not you begging them. If your program is as great as you all continue to boast, then why does it look like dirty brown water trash on the field year after year after year.

Fact is, y'all haven't won shite for decades despite acting like you're Alabama or Clemson or Ohio State. So yes, you should be embarrassed that you just had to resort to paying a coach who went 5-6 in the ACC $7.5MM for a decade.

Again, LSU was salivating over the idea of Jimbo Fisher and Tom Herman just last year

What I meant - say we did same deal

4years in revenue is way down for losing we can't write $45M GTFO check

Or not so much we couldn't we wouldn't be allowed to

Plus we five school money vs war chest
