auburn won most of their games b/c of cam newton & nick fairley...auburn fans will argue that they had a good, but underappreciated team. but anyone, who is somewhat objective & who watched auburn football would probably tell you that cam & nick took that team on their shoulders & willed/forced them to win. 2 once in a lifetime players playing in a once in a lifetime situation with teamates who bought into their leadership & played off of it. this is not a bad thing, it's actually something that every coach on any level of sports would wish to have. au should be proud of this.

so, so many accusations & smoke coming not just from "auburn haters" but from former auburn players. we have heard them all ad nauseum--from "bagmen" to pfp to atms, etc, etc, etc...

cecil newton, when questioned about the buyout, said something to the effect that they were going with what the ncaa said, rather than totally denying any allegations...weak..

and, why does this appear to be worse than, say, the osu stupidness? b/c, the national perception (perception is reality) is that auburn won the nc on the back of one player..cam newton, who most seem to think was bought, true or not. and cam was definately the face of auburn football last year.


as an alabama/sec fan, i do not want the ncaa nosing around the sec...i'm sure there are many, many infractions that could be investigated & procecuted on almost any team, especially since the ncaa seems to have found it's balls again.

but, i don't understand why auburn fans don't get the national perception of the cam situation. and it is national. why they are so surprised & outraged that anyone would question their/cam's integrity.

if this were alabama or florida or georgia, lsu, whatever....auburn fans would be gleefully heading the bandwagon. i vividly remember the albert means fiasco & my fanbases' denials and, b/c of that if this was alabama, with this much smoke & under the microscope instead of auburn, i'd be uneasy.

You can't totally. Things like going to booster meetings and talking about what is kosher and what is not, watching the players and their actions/purchases/affiliations with people...stuff like that helps. But, at the end of the day, you're just bailing the boat out with a Dixie cup.

I hate to be the one to point that out, but he was talking about an the first time he had Danny on. Everyone did think the Cam story was over a month ago, at least until news came out about the NCAA investigator telling Chiz they will let him know when it's over.
