Sounds like some Jeff Lebby coach-think.

Personally I think it was probably the right play just not in this case. The Bama fg kicker has struggled this season. He is a lot better on the short yardage kicks than the long yardage kicks to be sure. I think I would have put that make the kick to win the game pressure on him to see if he would miss it. It may not have worked but think I would have gambled at least.

I swear many of our “fans” don’t actually watch the games.

Tally is 30-30 on PATs and a perfect 9-9 on kicks from 46 yards or closer. His misses are from 47, 49, 49, and 53.

The USCe guy could have pushed him out at the 10 or 11 and Bama had a timeout.

It would have been a dead-center 28-30 yard attempt - almost a PAT - which Talty has ‘struggled’ on by being perfect.

College kickers can crumble under the pressure to win the game. He has struggled at distance as I sad. I also said that he was a lot better on shorter kicks. Put the kid in the pressure cooker though to win the game and he may miss it. I doubt it would have worked as I said. Talty is not Will R. It was probably worth a shot just because both plays were low probability choices.

I watched the Falcons lose a game because the other team let Gurley score. I'm not sure that's anti football. It's being smarter than the offensive player.

Talty 100% would have missed that kick no matter what his stats are. No doubt in my mind. That is just what Alabama kickers have done for like a decade now.

34 seconds left, no timeouts, needing to march down field to score a TD just to tie it. Not a smart decision at all.

Your near 100% record at being wrong with predictions for years now means he would have sent it right down the middle.

Yes they can. You said he has struggled, which simply isn’t true.

Early in the year he was asked to try kicks that are clearly outside his physical capabilities.

He’s been an absolute picture perfect model of consistency. 45 yards and in, he’s utterly reliable. Outside that range, he’s an all but guaranteed to miss. The staff has figured that out too, which is why they’re now going for it on 4th down instead of trying high 40s/low 50s licks.

A ball carrier choosing to go down is one thing but just letting the carrier score is very anti-football. Dont like the decision.

I'm with you here but it's professional ball now

No you didn’t, so quit trying to backtrack.

Here’s exactly what you said:

He’s not been ‘better’ on short yardage kicks, he’s been perfect on them.

What do you think that means dumbass? That another way of saying he has struggled from distance but has been better on short yardage kicks is it not? Damn does everyone have to decode everything in life for you or can you manage to get a couple of things right every so often?

I hope we are straight now. Damn I have dealt with some ball busters in my time but you take the cake brother. Just to clarify though I agree with you. You are just splitting hairs because I didn’t say it the exact same way you did. When I said he has struggled I’m meant from distance. When I said he has been better on short kicks I left a little wiggle room because I could remember exactly how many he had missed from up close. Either way it alls boils down to he has been way better on shorter kicks. You never know though how much all those misses would affect him if he had to kick a winning fg even from short distance.

Nope DUMB, if you had 2 minutes left or aye 1 minute. But the proper play was to try and fore a WR to fumble, then hope you can. 1.) Block the kick or 2.) He gets nervous and shanks it. You are nit scoring a TD with 34 sec. left.

“Letting them score”

Just doesn’t sit right.

Ever.

My arse was run over in practice every fricking day to make the offense better, trying to prevent them from scoring.
