Maybe it does for some people?

I don't think I have run into a meth head in either state. At least not that I know of. I guess I just don't run in that circle so I don't see it

It's clear that quite a lot escapes your attention. I am semi-retired from a 50 year career in the construction industry. Do you know what the toothless, poorly-educated and immigrant workers say when the job is almost done and it's time for the "telecom guys"? They say, "It's time to bring in those pricks."

I don't care what they say about us. It is a part of the job just like any other from my point of view.

By the way those people who think about us this way didn't have enough desire to do any more than what they are doing now, otherwise they would have done what it took to get where they want to be. I do understand that drive and ambition may have not been instilled in them growing up, however the fact of the matter is many of them never even made an attempt to pull themselves out of it.

I know plenty of people of all colors and creeds who had nothing growing up who are highly respected members of society now. I simply have the attitude that if you want it, then all you have to do is at least make an attempt to go get it.

What is your definition of "computer school"? I rarely do anything with computers. I deal with infrastructure that connects computers with the outside world,

He may mean a Virginia Technical Instititue type college.

Or a “college” where you pay $25k to get a certification.

I will never understand people who make fun of others for having a blue collar job. It’s announcing to the world that you are a pretentious douchebag. At least these construction workers are working instead of collecting government funds.

This is coming from someone with a white collar job who realizes there is more to who I am than what I do 9-5.

Blue collar work is honorable work. I have just never personally understood lack of ambition beyond that type of work IF there is a desire to do something other than that.

I taught IT at Remington "College" off and on for two years. They paid very well but I ultimately left because I realized what a scam it was. For the $30k you are paying you can get the same for a couple of hundred bucks and get a certification.

I don't know much about those types of "colleges". I know I have a few certifications but those were pretty much paying to take a test I already knew the answers to through work experience. There is nothing they teach you can't figure out yourself as far as I know.
