This last month is going to drag probably. I am so ready. It has been so boring on this site, especially with all the flaming here lately.

It's just gonna get worse when the season starts.

Florida's going to thrash us probably and then it's going to be even worse for me.

I agree. I'm really flamed out and just ready for some decent talk. The flames have just turned to nastiness and I'm bout sick of all that at this point. Needs to get back like it was last season and where folks can enjoy each others opinions and take it with a grain of salt. Just have fun with it.

So, Hunter, I read you used to smoke. How did you quit? I really want to and am only 23 years old so it should be easier for me, but I am having a hard time.

Quit cold turkey. Dad had a heart attack and I made the decision myself finally and put em down. Never had another. You just gotta want to do it basically, imo.

If it makes you feel better, it's a matter of will power. I smoked 17 years when I laid them down. If you are ready, you will quit. The thing is, you have to do it for you. Not for someone else. If you try to do it because of that, you won't. You'll always sneak. And it is best to quit cold. Having just one here or there does nothing but keep you hooked and thinking about having that one later in the day. Just find stuff to snack on and stay busy to where you don't think about it.

Yeah, but even though I haven't smoked all that long, I've just gotten so used to having it be a part of certain activities. I think my problem is far more mental than physical, but you are right, the sneaking aspect is always lingering.

I just tire of my hacking cough and smelling like an ashtray, but I'm kind of scared to quit because I have quit before for months at a time only to have something bring me right back to it.

It is. After 72 hours, the physical need is gone. Hardest part for me was driving down the road... was used to having something to do with my hands and that was tough not smoking then. And after meals. That was also tough.

After you've been quit. Take it day by day, remind yourself that you would be stupid to put yourself through the withdrawels to go back now and do that each time you get the urge to light up, eventually you won't have to. You'll always have a craving, but not a need.

Yeah. I have tried just cutting back, thinking if I only had 3 or 4 a day that would be alright, but I just can't do it. One thing leans to another and I always end up smoking up to a pack a day again. I need to just quit altogether.

And any time I get stressed out about anything at all, I turn to cigarettes. That's what I'm really afraid of at this juncture.

Exactly. Keeping any around sets you up for failure. Just get them gone and away completely and it will help.

I understand where you're coming from. For me, and it may help you, just find things to keep you busy, working, odd jobs. Just anything to keep your mind off the next cig and to occupy your time and mind. It helps. You can do it if you are ready. Just plan it out and you will be successful. Have faith in yourself and you'll do it.

Yeah, I gotta give it a shot at least. I just know in the long run I'd be a lot happier if I just quit for good.

Yeah, no doubt, especially with the tax increase. A carton of cigs in Boulder is 50 bucks.
