evidently you think a two point win is bigger than a 43 point win.

So Bama must have dominated them, right ? Why don’t you tell us how Alabama did against the “ joke “ conference ? We will wait .

11-13. 0-6 v. Texas. 9-2 in games since 1970. All but one of the losses were prior to 1974. Saying the SWC was a great conference is about like saying Minnesota and Army are great football programs. By the time it fell apart in 1996, only Texas, A&M, TTU, and Arkansas were actually wanted by another conference. The Texas legislature forced Baylor into the deal. Imagine if a conference imploded today and only half its teams could find a power 5 conference to take it. Would we call that a great conference? I'd call it a joke.

The Southwest Conference as a whole was a very, very good football league until the late 1980's. Sure there were some dog years, but every league had those as well. In fact from top to bottom the SWC may have had the best league in the 1970's.

Is this the retort for all new posters on this forum, when you cannot think of a thing to add of substance?

Actually, tamu requested that the series be cancelled because it was joining the Big12 in 1996 and it’s league schedule wouldn’t accommodate the annual matchup with LSU.

LSU agreed and waived its right to the cancellation fees called for in the contract.

You’re probably thinking of the time time tamu left the Big12 because Daddy Texas embarrassed it in every sport for a century. The ags paid tens of millions in buyout money to the Big12 conference to stop the annual beatings.

Ouch!

So it was such a good league that only a decade after it was great, it imploded, out-casting half its teams to CUSA? The SWC past the 1950's was about as good as the old Big East. It was a one state league known for dominance by one team and a bunch of others trying to play catch-up by cheating at a rate so high that it shocked people even by 1980's cheating standards. The SWC had horrible attendance, fan support, facilities, basically everything you would use to determine the health of a league. None of its teams outside of Texas, A&M, and Arkansas had any national relevance beyond occasional successful runs of a few years by the smaller teams that would later be taken down by obvious cheating scandals.

Put it in context. Nearly all of the losses were prior to the 70s. Half the losses were to Texas (one of the few schools that were not a joke in the SWC). I'll be the first to admit that for whatever reason, very old school pre-1970's Alabama was not good against the SWC or especially against Texas.

Also, if (by your logic) SWC > Alabama automatically means the SWC was great, then shouldn't LSU > SWC automatically mean that the SWC is trash given that LSU was very average as a whole while the SWC existed?

Think that happened twice with Ole Miss and pre-SEC Arkansas.

Obviously.

74-72:

Tamu put that score on commemorative cups, on the inside of their bowl rings, above its student section when LSU men’s BB visited college station, and their coach has an oil painting of a play from the game hanging in his office.

50-7:

A footnote score against one of the few non-ranked teams LSU played that year. Lumped in with Arkansas, Ole Miss, Vandy, and Utah State.

So I've tried to engage you in a discussion relevant to the thread topic you posted and yet all you have been able to do is make every response revert to some troll of Alabama. Outside of your initial post you haven't responded with any numbers or even opinions; purely trolls of Alabama simply because of the logo next to my name. Keep up the good fight buddy.
