If Alabama beats LSU in the national championship, the state of Alabama will have the most national championships of any state. It's why Alabama is arguably the greatest CFB program ever.

It sounds like you're using Auburn's success to prop yourself up.

Your right if Mississippi had only one major university, we would compete at a much higher level, probably similar to Arkansas.

MSU is around 21K

OM is a little over 20K

Is Arkansas really only 19K? I figured they had more than that

It's not the enrollment that's a huge factor, it's the fact that we are both in the SEC and split recruits and donation money.

With teams like ASU being in a lesser conference, there isn't the competition for recruits and money. If ASU had started out in the SEC like MSU, it would be a whole new story.

You say that Tyson would donate a large sum, or I guess what you would think would be "all" of his money to an agri-school, which this state has and he does donate money to.

Wal-mart donates to just about every school in the state, the YouofA doesn't get all of their money.

Several other large contributors are the same way. Several of these boosters that you are claiming to be the reason for our success due to their money have donated money to build buildings on college campuses that are outside of the YouofA system.

So your gripe is that Arkansas has the following in the state, well that was creative marketing that began back in the 50s as it wasn't always so.

Arkansas relies very little on in-state recruits, we take a small amount every year but it isn't like the classes are only from instate or that we get every instate player worth a damn.

Go out of state and get players, we do.

Problem is, because we have always split our in state recruits and resources, neither MSU or OM have ever been good consistently. It's different when you have both schools in the SEC in the same division. It's an instate rivalry, and the money boosters and going to be either for one school or the other, not donating to all schools. And you split recruits, instate or out of state.

Usually both schools are pursuing the same talent, and they will go to one or the other. No top talent recruit, out of state, will come to OM or MSU because we aren't competing for championships, for the reasons listed above.

We only get top rated talent from in state, who grew up either a MSU or OM fan, or the rare transfer from another school who isn't getting playing time or whatever. Very rare do we get a 4 or 5 star out of state.

If there was only one school, it would get more instate top talent, which enables more wins over time, which would enable that school to get out of state recruits.

Dominating in state recruiting is the only way to be relatively successful for extended time at OM or MSU. Just look at Sherrill in the 90s.
