Sum the ranking # of your SEC opponents.

That seems pretty even.
Anchor Down.
I think you're going to find that, in the SEC, when and where make a difference as well.
Night games, on the road at some places, typically are more difficult.
There are also a lot more trap games in this conference than in others.
Playing a team after an off week changes the metric as well.
IMHO the metric the OP used is bush league .... B12ish thinking. It doesn't work in this league.

It's not about cherry picked games, it's about the basic math and how averages and numbers work.
I was just explaining to you why averages are flawed as a metric(or total points, which is basically the same thing when everyone has the same number of games). You still have the same affect over 10 or even 20 games. You are going to over value middle teams while undervaluing the more difficult teams. It's just a basic function of the math.
I was only demonstrating the flaw, and only using 2 teams makes it easier to see.
Sadly there isn't a great SoS metric anymore. There was until ESPN bought SP+ and put it behind a paywall. Now the metric only uses FEI, which was only half the original formula.
You make no sense. The AP is what, 50+ voters? They rank what they think is current status. Yes it will change. But it still gauges overall teams. It doesn’t matter how you spin it, a lower total means you play a harder schedule. Thats it, very simple.
In 4 weeks it will likely look a bit different. Since so many ranked SEC teams play other ranked SEC teams it will be interesting how they handle that. If those games are close then it may not be as drastic as we think.
I would dare you to find any SEC team in history who played 6 ranked conference teams in one season. All that means is we have our work cut out and we’re going to lose some games. Everyone is. The days of an undefeated conf team are mostly over except a rare exception. What used to be 0 and 1 loss arguments will now be 1 qnd 2 loss arguments. And throw in 3 with the new playoffs. A 3 loss SEC team will be better than most other conferences 2 loss teams.
Its a whole new world for everyone. And with 2 more ranked teams joining it means more SEC players go to NFL. And the more that go the more recruits want to play there.

I agree. Our away game at Auburn is another concern of mine. On top of 6 ranked teams we get them on road at night (I think its night). So to me its a 7th ranked like team due to atmosphere. And I happen to think Auburn will be ranked before too long anyways.

It doesn't matter how much the AP changes, the flaw is in your formula. The AP poll can be 100% accurate and it doesn't change the flaw.
I literally gave you an example where a lower total was not the tougher schedule. In fact, the schedule with the higher total was much more difficult.
Your failure to understand is your problem.

You're doing it backwards. Higher point total = harder schedule.
For UF: 102 points
#1 UGA 25
#3 Texas 23
#6 Rebs 20
#12 Canes 14
#14 Vols 12
#18 LSU 8

You are just weird, must be a new math graduate.
If I played ranked teams 1/2/3/4/5/6/7/8 and you played ranked teams 9/10/11/12/13/14/15/16 who would play the harder schedule?
Mine is 36 total and an avg of 4.5
Yours is 100 total and an avg 12.5
So on avg its easy to see unless you are dense.
Its not that hard but you sure are trying. I thought posters here were better than that, but a few drag down the average.

which is harder?
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 49, 50
120 Total 15 avg
9, 10, 11,12,13,14,15, 20
104 Total 13 avg
I’d rather play the 2nd group all day long..

I use to run a ranking formula of my own about 15 years ago that would also predict the winners of the games and give a point spread. What I'm saying isn't that difficult to understand.
You are the one dragging things down.
