To avoid the conundrum of what to do with a team losing in the CG like Bama or an upstart like Duke winning and not getting in, why not go to 13 games for everyone, get rid of the conference championship games and select a champion based on conference record?

This lets everyone get another ooc game during the season, more revenue for another on campus game.

Then you either take the top 12/16 ranked teams. More than likely your P4 champs would either be in that top 12/16 ranking or else they don't deserve to go because their conference was so weak.

I think it's more likely we add more playoff teams than more regular season games.

That would solve some problems.

The fiction that the G5 belongs is laughable.

The conference championships made a lot of sense when we had the BCS, even the 4 team playoff. They don’t in the current environment. The sooner we go to a 64 (48 even) D1 playoff and a “the rest” division the better.
