could not agree more; same thing with auburn and bama not scheduling Troy, big boy programs need to man up and prove they're the class of their state; if you cant beat home-grown competition you certainly cant claim to be the best in that state

We've never played them.

That is different from other schools who quit playing instate schools because those schools became good.

You've never played them, they're bigger now and UPIG is still too big of a pussie to schedule them. Sounds worse to me

And why is that? Perhaps for the same reason we stopped, because it's a no-win situation?

The were DII for most of their existence, then moved up when the FCS was created. They have been on the FBS level for less than 2 decades.

We had a policy against playing DII schools, only started playing FCS schools sparingly in the early 90s.

The debate really picked up steam in the late 1980's, when former ASU head coach Larry Lacewell led the Indians (ASU changed to the Red Wolves a couple of years ago) to a national runner-up finish, when ASU was in the NCAA Division I-AA playoffs.

Arkansas’ athletic director at that time was the legendary Frank Broyles. Uncle Frank was vehemently opposed to his Hogs playing any team from the state of Arkansas. His reasoning was that the Razorbacks had nothing to gain and everything to lose. Broyles wanted to bring in non-Arkansas based teams for the Hogs to beat up on, and maintain Arkansas’ aurora of invincibility within the state’s borders.

Again we only played DI opponents.

Our OOC schedule consisted, mainly, of Tulsa, Oklahoma State, and Ole Miss as regular rent-a-wins.

I can pick out 5 year periods where Arkansas had winning records against LSU, Bama, Texas, etc. means nothing.

Did you not read the excerpt? You never played them for the same reason we stopped playing them. Nothing wrong with that though.

Furthermore, why are you afraid to start playing them, proving you are tFlagship beyond a shadow of doubt?

I read it, but Broyle's used that to back up his refusal to schedule non D1 opponents. That was his reasoning for all of them, stAte isn't special.

Why start? All it would do is tie up a non-con game every year as they will want it to be a yearly game.

Would you rather play Memphis/USM every year or rotate in different lambs for the slaughter?

Looking at the all-time record between Ole Miss and Arky it doesn't seem like we've ever been rent-a-wins for y'all.

Arkansas has a 4 game lead in the head to head series, a series dominated by ole miss for the majority of the rivalry early on, it wasn't until about ten years ago that arky took the lead for the first time after many years of mediocrity from ole miss.

Ole miss is a rent a win for the likes of bama but a coin flip at best for Arkansas.

I agree with this, I just find it very hypocritical of you to be trolling us on not playing USM when you will never play ASU for the same reason we stopped.

Ole Miss benefited from the series being cancelled due to the drunken redneck nature of their fans after losses.

If it wasn't for that, you could join aTm and Ms. State talking about brief moments in history when you were decent to help take the sting away from never being as good as Arkansas.

Keep telling yourself that Dale, but the truth of the matter is, Ole Miss and Arkansas football programs are almost identical.
