I joked earlier, but the people down there were very nice when I lived there.
I will freely admit... I loathed Florida with all my heart during the summer. The traffic was horrible and the climate was like being trapped in a sauna filled with giant, armor plated, flying cockroaches.
The other 8 months of the year it was great though. I can completely see the "snowbird" appeal the state has. I would suggest not living on the coast during the summer just for the traffic and tourist issues, but its perfectly fine other than that.

Hell that's the only time traffic is tolerable. Unless you are talking about the 3 holiday weekends at the start, middle and end of Summer. Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day weekends suck.

Not if you lived in Destin, which I did, once summer started that crappy highway that ran through town was packed solid. My 15 minute commute to work turned into an hour... sometimes an hour and a half.
Mind you, I'm not saying it was as bad as DC where the traffic is godawful 365 days a year but it was very annoying. Though Destin was quite nice the rest of the time. The last few times I've been it has gotten a bit too Touristy though. None of the old charm about the place is left.
