Who cares where the ball is?
You’re giving the pitcher a strike out for throwing a wild arse pitch that is nowhere near the zone. That’s the reason we have behind the plate umpires, because we do care where the ball goes.
It’s a stupid rule that needs to be changed.

The pitcher gets a strike because the batter choose to deliberately stick out an arm to get hit by the ball. When a player does this I can see how it would be difficult for the ump to make a ball-strike call in live action. So to me it makes sense that the rule says if this happens it’s a strike.
How about this. If you are a batter don’t stick out and arm to get hit by a pitch. If an LSU player does this and strikes out because of it I would say the same thing.
