No, I'm making the argument that LSU felt they were the "better team" last year after being outplayed supposedly by bama, and how bama didn't get beat by LSU, but beat themselves.

The stances are the same, but reversed. Understand now?

bama didn't play their "worst". They just played a team equal in talent that can match up with them.

Kudo's to bama for finding a way to win that game.

You can always second guess any game win or lose.

Miles played to win. In the process he made some bad decisions. But, the team overcame them and had a chance to win if they could stop 1 more drive. They couldn't.
I did hate the fake FG. I also didn't like the 54 yd attempt but I'm sure he's seen DA make that before.
No problem with the onsides, very close to being a huge game.

Mettenberger looked great, which few expected. Just as important (and what should really worry other SEC teams) LSU's young OL was damn good. You have a Soph and 2 freshmen who look like studs with an All-American LT who should be coming back next year.

If your an LSU or bama fan you have to love the rivarly that is starting. This will be a great matchup for the foreseeable future.

Actually it was the worst game to date by Bama. Does not change the fact that LSU outplayed them.

And I guess that LSU had nothing to do with that.

To say Alabama played their worst is foolish. To say they played down is just as dumb. Both teams put out 100% and the better team on Saturday night was LSU, the better coached team won, big congrats on that too! But I'm just as proud of LSUs performance as I would be if we had won.

Absolutely. But what did they have to do with the two turnovers? Unforced.

And I'm sure LSU felt like they were the better team, but we know now that wasn't true. Alabama crushed every other team they played that season, including LSU the second time. Safe to say Alabama did beat themselves on 11/5.

But you can't say the same for this weekend, LSU played a truly inspired game, looked like a completely different team than they have all year. Were obvioulsy fired up because of the revenge factor, but it just wasn't enough. Even with Alabama leaving a couple touchdowns on the field and the performance of Mettenberger's life, it just wasn't enough. The Tide prevailed as expected, and has now won 4 out of 6 over LSU. Because they are the better team and program. Not that complicated.

It doesn't matter whether it was true or not. The perspective that the majority of each fanbase expressed on November 5th, 2011 is is the same only reversed. I'm not looking at records, stats, or whether or not it's even a plausible opinion. Just how both felt at the time.

I think it absolutely matters. If your point is simply that in both games, the losing team felt they outplayed the winner, then yes, I obviously agree. But you seem to be taking it a step further and saying that LSU thinks they are the "better team" which let's be honest it's completely laughable at this point, which is what I'm saying.

AJ no doubt had the worst game of his career until the final drive.

I argued all week with LSU fans that we are the ONLY team in the country that could stand toe to toe with Bama. You guys do have a great program with a great coach. NO ONE was giving us much of a chance. I never believed we had no chance. With that said, great teams find ways to win just like we did last Nov in BDS and just like y'all did on Sat.

No. Last year LSU fans realized they squeaked out at win at BDS. Though many insisted otherwise later on once the rematch became possible. Bama fans insisted they out played LSU in the loss.

Bama fans realize they squeaked out a win this year. LSU fans feel like we outplayed you. This is not my feelings, but the majority I have expressed as much. Outplaying is not the same as saying we were the better team.

Both games were nail biters, both had everything on the line, both weren't controversial, and both look to be the beginning of a rivalry made up of respect.

Actually, they're quite different. Last year, Alabama and LSU both dominated every other opponent they faced during the regular season, AND Bama outplayed LSU during the game.

LSU was the better team on Saturday night and you got lucky.......not to mentioned dominated.

Bama hadn't played ANYone until LSU and the same will be said next year.

You got lucky to walk out of BR with a win......

would you rather have a win like last year or a loss and have your offense play like it did this year? I think there are so many external factors that led to the rematch last year that do not apply this year. Personally, I think it just sucks for LSU right now, if they would not have lost to Florida, a rematch would be welcomed and certainly anticipated again.

LSU marginally outplayed bama, but they weren't the better team. They played their best game of the year and it still wasn't enough. Even with Alabama leaving 2 touchdowns on the field. (((at night in death valley)))) Hard to say you dominated the game when you still couldn't get it done given all that. LSU is a great program, just not quite on Alabama's level.
