They quit and came to an understanding how big of a mistake letting Ken Hatfield leave before joining the SEC.

Granted the SEC was a tougher conference but Arkansas replaced him with Jack Crowe who had no head coaching experience.

Hatfield was the superior coach and sure wouldn't have lost to the Citadel in 92 and make Arkansas decent while adjusting to the competition.

Then they made an another mistake in Danny Ford who clearly cheated at Clemson.

I don't believe he was allowed to cheat while under his boss Frank Broyles.

So he had one blind squirrel finds a nut season but was fired two years later.

Arkansas hires Nutt but Tuberville was more qualified.

Nutt was a 7 win a year coach but was unable to win an SEC title with first round draft picks on both sides of the ball.

He was fired.

Petrino was hired and we saw some small glimpses but it faded fast and we all know that ended

AD Jeff Long hired John L. who admitted it was a bad hire.

Smith told Long that he was millions of dollars in debt. Long ignored him and hired him for one year salary of $800,000. He just wanted a few quick bucks to get out of debt. Long hired him instead of hiring someone on the staff who wasn't a looney tune.

Bert was another bad hire had Long looked deeper in his background but he didn't do it.

Long got fired and Bert soon after.

Arkansas didn't have an AD in place to make any decent hires. So Chad Morris was hired by a search committee composed of former players from various sports.

Chad Morris was hired a few days after current AD Hunter Yuracheck was hired.

Chad was was fired and Sam was hired.

The Arkansas kept media kept telling the fans that Sam Pittman was the only one who wanted the job.

I believe that is a lie perpetuated by the media but it was a failed coaching search.

It was and Arkansas is in a cycle of damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Has any coach come back from 1-7 type season to be successful?

Kelly went 4-8 at ND in 2016. ND then went 5 straight seasons winning 10-12 games.

Pittman probably told him he would retire, so they'll send him off with a vote of confidence to quiet speculation for a while.

If he told Arkansas AD that then the AD will take it.

Notre Dame is a lot better place to recruit and one of the top football programs. Arkansas isn't even close to that.

Apparently, Yurachek wants to fire Pittman. However, the BoT won’t let him. At least not yet.
