I see Saban as the pioneer of how a college football program is run in the 21st century. He revolutionized the profession like a Newton or Einstein and showed the path to the next generation of coaches, like Smart.

Smart is a hell of a coach, but Saban is the one who blazed the trail so Kirby could get a job like UGA in his early 40s with no prior HC experience. Saban had to take the hard road and learn from his own beats at places like fricking Toledo.
