Plain and simple....Saban took his $$$ and went home when they legally allowed other programs to do what he'd been doing under the table for years...Add the fact he could not just stockpile 5 stars to sit on the bench because other programs paid them to actually play. He's a control freak and that is why he left the NFL because they told him to go FK himself....Then towards the end the college kids were telling him the same. I have a very good friend who's son played in the SEC and NFL....I know what the Crimson Turds offered him to come to Tuscaloosa.....way before the NIL days.
And now...he tells everyone it was about getting an education and molding of men....What bullshite.

Saban would never have paid a player; that's insanity and way beneath him. At the time Saban was hired,
Alabama was the most heavily scrutinized and watched program ever by the NCAA. If an Alabama player or coach had even so much as littered or jaywalked, the NCAA would have SMU'ed them.

You have to expect to be asked for a picture of yourself when you are posting among a bunch of men who follow football. Most women would be flattered to get the request.

For various reasons, the talent “bank” Saban had during the middle years of his Alabama reign started to fall off. No longer did he have 4 tailbacks with NFL top round draft prospects or 4 #1 NFL WRs on one team. Some of his teams from 2009-2020 were ridiculously loaded. By the time Covid was over, talent started to spread out more inside the conference. The conference is stronger today than anytime during Saban’s years cause more teams are competing. Most of Saban’s time at bama it was only either LSU or Ga that could compete with Auburn occasionally catching them.

Things started to drop off a bit because Saban was dying of old age. He said numerous times that his energy level had dropped and he couldn't keep up physically any longer.
Contrary to all the revisionist history of nitwits and halfwits, it wasn't because of NIL. It's known he didn't like how NIL was implemented and he didn't like the way the sport was heading, but he didn't quit because of it.
He quit because he is an old man. Many would have extremely enjoyed seeing him age out and die on the sidelines as a perennial loser in his 80's but, he outsmarted all his haters.
