Not all fans, but some. I think Saban is a great recruiter and coach. However, being a great person with integrity is another. But if all you care about is winning, the other part doesn't really matter, does it?
The guy decided to take a stab at the NFL, it didn't work so he came back to college...big effin deal.

I know you hate it because yes, just like Southern California is called USC the majority of the time, but they are not incorrect in calling you Louisiana State because it Louisiana State University. I like LSU better anyways.

After all it's all about "THE PROCESS"

Yeah, but people say Michigan State, Florida State, Mississippi State, Colorado State, etc. I just don't like Louisiana State.

You Gumps should join with Notre Dame and Michigan fans to start a "Was Relevant Long, Long Ago but Can't Let Go and Can't Admit Noone Considers Us A Power Anymore" support club.

Don't mistake the last 7 years before the pre-Saban era.
Times have changed...

And I don't like the way you quoted me in your above post, just using my last sentence. That is not cool.

and another thing, you do realize you became an average program the day you were limited to 85 scholarship players? Being on a level playing field has sucked for you guys. YOU WILL NEVER BE WHAT YOU ONCE WERE BECAUSE YOU CAN NOT CHEAT ANYMORE!

Ok I will admit, Ala is getting "more love and props" than LSU this year.......in the state of Ala. Congratulations!

The deluded Rocky Slop....
Tell me then. you state this and then you go into this decades accomplishments...we know them, tell me these>>
I will then.
How embarassing is it when not only a bunch of delusional gumps want to argue LSU's
history, but some LSU fans do as well.
LSU has been a top 10 college football program for nearly a hundred years. Last time I checked, LSU has more SEC titles over the last 30 years than anyone, but UF, who barely leads us.
----------------------------------------------
If you want to judge the new millenium, it's obvious LSU is the standard for SEC football.
LSU has won more games, more SEC titles, and more NCs than any other team and is light years ahead
of Bama in the new millenium. You say not to judge Bama for recent years...but....
-------------------------------------------
If you want to judge LSU on what happened in the 1990s, That was LSU in the 1990-1999 period.
You can't base LSU on that, like you can't base Bama on the last 8 years.
--------------------------------------------
So let's back up some more. Tell me, who finished first in the SEC in the 1980s more than any other SEC team?
LSU did, 4 times-- in 1982, 1984, 1986, 1987, and 1988.. In fact, LSU either finished 1st or second 6 times in 8 years in the 1980s.
Furthermore, LSU beat Bama more than any other school in the SEC in that period--in 82, 84, tied in 85, 86, and 88. Bama won in 1981, 1983, 1987, and 1989.
Hence LSU was more successful then Bama back then as well.
For true historians, most will know UGA was the team in 1980 an 1981.
In other words, Bama was already matched back then by more than a few teams besides LSU, which is exactly why Bear was pressed into retirement.
The bear ruled from 1973 until 1979.
In the early 1970s, once ole miss and Tennessee declined, LSU was Bama's major competition-- for a long time. McClendon was the only disciple of bear bryant to beat him, and he did it twice in
1970 and again in 1971, (perhaps 69 and 70??, not exactly sure. LSU was picked in the top 5 several times and was actually SI's preseason #1 in 1972.
In the 1960s LSU was in the top ten several times, and went to 5 New Year Day Bowls. Only Bama went to more new year day bowl games in the 1960s. In the 1950s, LSU won it's first national title, and was ranked several times in the Top 25.
Ever heard of the Bernie Moore Trophy? It's now the SEC all sports trophy. It was named after an
LSU coach, not bear Bryant.
---------------------------
Other facts:
LSU won nearly 72% of it's games prior to the nose dive from 1989 to 1994, (and again in 1998 and 1999)
Only Florida has won more SEC titles than LSU over the last 30 years, and UF, Bama and LSU all
have won 2 NCs over the last 30 years.
And, as stated, LSU is the measuring stick now.
Get back to me if you need further education, boys.... and girls.
LSU is, has been and always will be a top 10 program. Now it's a top 5 program.
Tell me then. you state this and then you go into this decades accomplishments...we know them, tell me these>>
