Another aweful analogy. The kids have busted their tail and held up their end of the bargain. They have performed in the classroom and bled on the field or they would have been gone long ago. This is simply saban running kids off to make room for the bigger better deal.

Ah, but there is the rub. Saban didn't have someone with whom he could replace the less valuable. Even if the player wasn't pulling his weight, if there is no one better it's not a waste of a scholarship.

Wait a minute. If you want to talk about life, only a VERY small percentage of players will make a living playing pro football. Therefore, education is the key for the vast majority. And an education at a larger university = greater earnings throughout life for most. Therefore, dinky is doing these kids no favor in life and these kids have held up their end of the bargain in respect to their scholly. Colleges do not "fire" students in mass that do not make straight A's. That is another stupid analogy.

While we all appreciate your concern, Saban hopes that you will remain calm. He thinks it will work out.

It OBVIOUSLY has not or guys would not be getting forced out in the 11th hour over and over and over right now.

By rule, every player that will be on the 85 man roster has know that they will be on it or grayshirted since July 1.

quote:

15.3.5.1 Institutional Obligation. The renewal of institutional financial aid based in any degree on athletics ability shall be made on or before July 1 prior to the academic year in which it is to be effective. The institution shall promptly notify in writing each student-athlete who received an award the previous academic year and who has eligibility remaining in the sport in which financial aid was awarded the previous academic year (under Bylaw 14.2) whether the grant has been renewed or not renewed for the ensuing academic year. Notification of financial aid renewals and nonrenewals must come from the institution’s regular financial aid authority and not from the institution’s athletics department. (Revised: 1/10/95)

edit: As I read it, I think this has to do with returning players only, so that would not include the incoming freshmen.
Regardless, the returning players have know their status for quite some time.

Care to guess what happens to their academic scholarship if they don't perform to the level that is expected and other applicants are?

Another pitiful analogy. I was on an academic scholly. It has zero to do with peer performance which is what you just implied.

this just seems like saban is getting rid of "old" players to bring in "new" players.

CGC will be doing this same thing if he recruits two or three great classes in a row. I don't believe he will stop recruiting superior athletes just to keep from telling one who will not get playing time that he needs to think about moving on.

Totally different issue dumbass. Try to get your head out of your arse if you want to make comments. This is about oversigning and running people off as a result.

Looks like you ignorant dumbfricks have not come up with shite so far, except we do not give a damn about integrity because we do not have any ourselves. That is why we worship saban and are too scared or stupid to be critical of anything he does.

sad that people can't just admit he oversigns, and then kicks off people for the "fresh meat"

Dax D has no feelings. You university showed great integrity by kicking Jemison, Thompson, and Savage to the curb. They could have stood by those 18 year olds.
