Lot of loose chin straps on defense.

that would be pulling players off a pile and getting flagged for it when the other team was doing the exact same thing

one yard is the NFL standard and many of the same rules apply. Yes, I understand there are some variances though.

Cost us a game in 2013 and 2015.

Why not keep the rule, but add the extra on the field ref like the Big 12 did just for the difficulty in enforcing this rule with modern offenses that like the RPO.

This is fricking stupid. We have to change a rule because maybe the refs miss a call or two a year. What about P.I lets change that and oh yeah Holding calls they miss those all the time.

One play rarely if ever costs a game.

Plus, Bama has been guilty of the same from time to time.

If they want to change rules how about adopting some things from the NFL as far as how the game is played. Like say Hashes being brought in and the clock not stopping on every first down so a game doesn't drag on for four and a half hours.

Make it a yard so officials can easily tell when a lineman is too far down field.

The original rule was a smaller amount of yds and was upped around the time they changed the play clock rules.

It plainly cost us the barn game in 2013 and helped us lose the Ole Myth game this year. An immediate TD in both games.

The barn tied the game with less than a minute to go with their illegal play.

Everybody has an OL downfield from time to time, but some teams (mainly spread/hurry up) do it on purpose a lot more and that's a big difference when the zebras don't enforce the rules.

probably taking it back to 1 yard instead of 3 yards to make it easy to spot when someone is in violation. in practice it probably means players get away with 3 yards instead of 6 yards like currently happens. 1 yard is what the nfl uses

More "player safety" issues? The games are long enough without introducing another stoppage of game to review this. IMO
Well CBS games are going to be 5 hours now instead of the standard 4
