I understand it but JJ didn't prove it.
In passing plays he did scramble a lot. You guys have really thick purple and gold glasses and are arguing something that doesn't even condemn him to being a bad player.
He hasn't proven he can sit in the pocket. Beyond that, based on your statements he hasn't proven he can learn a playbook or read college defenses. So I guess he's got more to prove than I thought.

I saw the game as well. He also ran the ball 10 times. And I saw the HS clip posted that you must have missed.
Kodi Burns passed 43 times for 300+ yards again Miss. Lets call him a pocket guy based on a game. Oh wait he runs 35% of the time. Hmmm...

JJ peachbowl highlight video (which is all we really have to go on right now, since gumptard won't let us use highlight videos of highschool)
1) Designed run
2) PA read, throws.
3) PA read, throws

5) PA read, runs
6) Drops back, pressured, throws
7) Drops back, sits in pocket, throws
8) Drops back, sits in pocket, throws
1) Designed run

He's running outside of the pocket on 2/3 of his throws!!! The first 6 plays don't show him sitting in the pocket. It looks like a Vince Young highlight reel.
LINK
Play one - run
Play two - out of the pocket
Play three - out of the pocket
Play four - out of the pocket
Play five - run
Play six - rolling out of the pocket
Play seven - sets his feet and throws
Play eight - sets his feet and throws
He stays in the pocket and doesn't roll or scramble 2 out of 8 plays. 25% of the time he sets his feet and throws. What did your video prove? It didn't show him to be a guy that sits in the pocket.

I hope he turns out to be a running QB. 2.5 ypc is defendable.

It proves that he's a pass-first QB.. use your fricking brain

He ran the ball 40% of the time and had 19 rushes in one game. That's a stat and not an opinion.
A guy who runs 19 times in a game isn't really a pocket passer in my opinion. That's an opinion and not a stat.
jesus christ, he was a true freshman that started TWO games and was the third string QB the majority of the season. he ran because crowton wanted him to run. they were trying to make the offense as easy as possible for him. it is ridiculously stupid to try to make the claim that he isn't a pass first QB based on two games under those circumstances

You guys keep saying he's a pure pocket passer. When he has a chance to step up in the pocket he scrambles out instead.
He runs 40% of the time.
Your highlights show him with the preference of rolling out of the pocket instead of stepping up in the pocket.

It doesn't show him to be a pocket passer. That's what has been claimed. You posted a video to prove he's a pocket passer of him running or rolling out of the pocket.

Ditto.

It's been said over and over that he's a pure pocket passer but on pass plays he seems more comfortable outside of the pocket than stepping up in the pocket.
I've said over and over that based on almost 3 games experience it doesn't show what his career will be like. He hasn't proven he'll be a guy that's comfortable in the pocket at this point since he's always either running or throwing from outside of the pocket.

i can't believe how stupid some of you are on this board. it's really quite amazing

i agree with this. i lived in new orleans while i was in college and saw this kid play a few times in person. he was most definitely a pocket passer then, which is why rivals listed him as one, and has been for his entire life as far as i know. this could definitely change in college though due to the level of competition and the type of offense it seems crowton would like to move towards. no one really knows right now, but based on his past and the circumstances surrounding the playing time he got this season i think he'll end up being a primarily pass-first college QB
