What if
Ga Tech (23) beats Georgia (4). Both would be 10-2.
Would Tech soar past Georgia in the poll? How far would UGA fall?
Miss St beats Ole Miss (7), and Oklahoma (8) beats LSU.
Both Ole Miss (7) and Oklahoma (8) would have the same 10-2 record.
Ole Miss beat Oklahoma head-to-head.
Would or should Ole Miss fall behind Oklahoma in the ranking?
With wins in their finales, Miami (12) and Notre Dame (9) would finish with 10-2 records.
Miami beat Notre Dame. Would they rightfully push Miami ahead of Notre Dame?
Bottom line, the committee has painted themselves into a corner and with the above results would shine a spotlight on just how deplorable it is.

I would bust if Ole Miss loses and Lane bolts and then they get left out of the playoffs.

No. The committee has already made their vote that ND has played better over the course of the season than Miami in spite of the head to head loss.
If they both win this weekend, nothing will change.

Notre Dame not being in a conference props up the committee model. If they were in a conference, you could have a playoff where the top X in conferences make it.
The chaos is going to happen when a 10-2 Alabama loses the SEC Championship game and is left out while Oklahoma and Ole Miss make it without having to play the extra game.
Alabama is 10th right now. They are essentially the last team in with the ACC/Group of 5 teams in. If they stay 10th (or 9th) going into the championship and something like BYU beats Texas Tech happens, they will be left out. That's not even counting the Miami problem.
Miami is not likely to make the ACC title game at 12. As has been discussed, they have a H2H win over Notre Dame. The committee saves face if Miami makes the playoff.

What about GT beating UGA, and 10-2 Bama losing the extra game? Would they punish Bama for playing the extra game while rewarding Georgia for missing it while also losing the head to head with Bama?

Alabama will not be punished for losing the SECCG. They will leave any three loss team out that isn’t in a championship game. That is the pattern. Alabama just has to beat Auburn to ensure their spot.

If there total chaos and there’s a lot of upset people we might go to 24 team playoff. The FCS they have a 24 playoff. So it can be done they would just need to use the bowls to play the games. That way, the Bowls do not lose any money. The cities don’t lose any money.
