Guy played at Florida. We can add him to our collection of outsiders. Hart from Bama and Cheek from UF.

Read the article! Graham replaced Gillespie at USC when Gillespie left for Okie State. Now it looks like Gillespie will be replacing Graham at UT.

Just get him a duffel bag of cash to work with and call it a day.

If we had a duffel bag of cash maybe Graham would not have left and we wouldn't be in this predicament.

True, sometimes stuff has to happen for the duffel bags of cash to start re-appearing again. It's big boy time.

Not sure that is correct - are you sure about that?
I'm pretty sure that when Spurrier told Gillespie to find another job, Gillespie took the Oklahoma State job not the WVA job. Gillespie has only been at WVA for one year if I remember correctly, and WVA's running game totally sucked last year.
We were not impressed with him at SC. We were impressed with Graham here at SC but Graham left for his alma mater and we understood that after three years.
Graham leaving for FSU sucks for UT and all the spinning about finally offering him $300k to stay and all that, just doesn't cut it. Graham loved UT and told Spurrier the only reason he was leaving SC after three years was because his alma mater was calling - so whatever Jones did must not have been cool.
Gillespie is not what most of us would refer to as a big time "get" ... he's a stop-gap quick-fix hire, not a big time UT SEC hire imho.
Everette Sands, who we hired as RB coach from NC State when Graham left for UT, now he was a big time hire. He's a Citadel Grad, tons of work ethic, born and bred South Carolinian, tons of experience coaching the position. Not only can that guy coach, but that guy can recruit the helloutta this area as well. He's gonna own NC and SC recruiting before all is said and done. I cannot remember the last time a new coach came in and made so many big time connections with high school coaches as this guy has done.
My point is this.
Graham could recruit - Graham and Spurrier recruited Lattimore and others here.
Everette Sands can recruit. Sands recruited and secured Mike Davis for us, and helped with two good ones we got this year including Palmer out of Philly.
Gillespie never really helped us sign a big time back. Our running game was not very good under Gillespie and, while he is a nice enough guy, you watch, he will not be around for long. He's a temporary fix unless he has really changed his work ethic and his teaching methodology.

He went from
USCe:05-08
Okie St:09-10
WVU:11-Present
While I am a little bit let down Graham decided to head to FSU, it's definitely not the end of the world. While He was with us he was a GOOD recruiter, not a GREAT recruiter. He pretty much single handedly kept the '13 class together and for that he gets a ton of credit in my book.
Comparing Gillespie and Graham, they're track record is about on par with each other with each having better years then the other at times, but around even for the most part.
Not sure I really follow? The only players they've got him listed as landing is 2 3* recruits during his tenure with SC
The Gillespie hire would be a good hire, not a splash hire IMO though. I'd like to see someone with a little better track record

Why would he leave WVU for UT?
Posted on 3/1/13 at 6:50 pm to jfran23
He's probably tired of being the only black guy in the state

This is the guy that fumbled like crazy against AU and UT in 01.

Graham took the easy way out. Stayed at UT one year. Didn't sign one running back. It's easier to go to Florida State and recruit in the ACC. Plus he got a 35,0000 a year raise. It's a no brainer.
We've got Robert G. so we will just roll with it for now.
