He was better under pressure than without pressure (and he was really, really good without pressure). Absolutely frickin insane.

The best NFL QB Ratings Under Pressure since 2013 (at least 200 dropbacks) - P5
1. Joe Burrow (LSU 2019) (141.1)
2. Baker Mayfield (Oklahoma 2016) (117.8)
3. Baker Mayfield (Oklahoma 2015) (117.4)
4. Nathan Peterman (Pitt 2016) (114.7)
5. Baker Mayfield (Oklahoma 2017) (112.4)
5. Teddy Bridgewater (Louisville 2013) (112.4)
7. Brock Purdy (Iowa St 2018) (111.9)
8. Kenny Hill (Texas A&M 2014) (111.4)
9. Eric Dungey (Syracuse 2015) (110.6)
10. Tua Tagovailoa (Bama 2018) (110.0)

I mean look at the gap between Burrow and the rest. That's just absolutely absurd.

Burrow was just a competitor. Plain and simple. I specifically remember thinking “Well, we are screwed” after Javaris Davis delivered a big hit on Burrow this last year.

I remember thinking "they're fricked" after that hit.

I kept saying that someone should have hit him like that before every game we played.

True. He's like a once in 30 year type guy. We've had ours, we won't get another one anytime soon. You guys had Newton years back.

Bad part - now LSU fans are going to expect that same play out of Brennan and future QBs, and it just won't be the same.

Brennan could literally be a fringe Heisman finalist and have a SIGNIFICANTLY worse season than Burrow in terms of the things Burrow did to score points and win games. The "difficult" things he did that nobody else in college football history has done are just nuts (as that under pressure stat shows).

I think it almost gets overlooked because of all the talent that was around him and the solid scheme, but even with all that........he did things other dudes just couldn't do.

Perhaps, but that's not what I meant. I said LSU fans are going to expect the same level of play from Brennan and others. And it's just not going to happen.

ETA: Burrow was damn near flawless last year. Brennan won't be flawless - any QB we get in the next 10 years won't be flawless. But LSU fans are going to expect that type of play for the next 2 years at least. Trust me, I know how they think.

I'm expecting more of a 2013 Mettenberger type season from Brennan.

No I mean I was agreeing with you - Brennan could have a really good, even great year (I think he probably will) - and it won't feel nearly what Burrow did.

That's a pretty reasonable expectation I'd think - probably more TD's I'd guess, but generally, that feels about right.

Mettenberger averaged 10.4 YPA that season - goodness gracious.

I was just thinking the same thing. Except, I think could be better than Mettenberger. And has a much better system.

Have you lost your mind! Nobody, nobody is confusing the two qbs together.

Macknife will be great, just in his own way and definitely not up to TUA'S.
standards. Then again, nobody's up to TUA'S standards.

Right, and LSU fans are going to expect another Burrow to run out on the field. Even if Brennan has a good year, they'll bitch and moan because he's not Burrow. It's not all of them, but a lot of them expect perfection - it's beyond frustrating.

Plumlee will leave before changing positions. Kiffin's offense while pass happy does require a mobile qb to be efficient.

It is absurd! But, look at Tua's stats before he was hurt and then go, WOW!
