I don't even follow recruiting other than reading on this board and subjecting myself to the pissing contest between olemiss/state fans but Moncrief, Sanders, Prewitt, Mackey, Scott, CJ Johnson, Gross, Prewitt were not considered piss poor. Maybe i'm wrong on that. fault Nutt's coaching on that.

Maybe a little better and maybe a consistent 7-8 win team. Hasn't ole miss recruiting always been a little higher than state's? We both have good classes coming in this year but that is still not close to the top of the SEC.

The problem with MSU is the limited upside.
Top talent? No.
Top coaching? No.
Top facilities? No.
Affluent fanbase? No.
Winning tradition? No.
Is Starkville, MS desirable for out-of-state coaches and recruits? No.
Right now, MSU just doesn't really have a puncher's chance to put together a dream season that wins the SEC West. Merlins is a solid coach, but what else do they really have going for them?
The odds are heavily stacked against MSU. Is it impossible for them to win the SEC? No. But if they want to have a magical Cam-esque year a lot of those negative factors needs to compensated for, and some cannot be changed quickly.
