Yes people are tired of Washington DC. Sick and tired of it and say so in poll after poll.

No you DO NOT face the tough issues...I have addressed them in post after post in this string and all I get is insults. No debating my points at all.

You made my point with your entire post, taking snippets of what I said and using them for your purposes. Typical.

And if you deny that liberals use personal attacks and character assassination to go after those they disagree with ,you are just dead wrong.

Sarah Palin comes to mind...President Bush also as examples. "Bush lied, people died".."Sarah Palin is a stupid c @@@"...I can go on and on.

Just read this string...I have been branded some kind of 1950's style racist in several posts.

I have nothing against people of any race. They and their descendants deserve the same rights and opportunities as I and mine have.

There are issues and I have told it like it is.

I will ask you the same thing I asked Chinese 58 and got no response...You and a black man are after the same job(I am assuming you are white)...he is hired because of affirmative action policies..how would you feel?

Another question...you are walking through a predominately ethnic neighborhood and a group of young men fall in behind you....how would you feel?

Be honest...

Ugh... I can't believe I'm replying to you, but here goes.

As people have always said. I don't like Washington (as an institution... I love the city) either. I don't "like" any authority. You're not stating anything significant.

Like I said, give me an example. Where have I done this?

It's just a line-by-line take on what you're saying. I'm not manipulating a single thing. What, should I take your posts as a whole and discover every little nuance of your wording? Because there isn't nuance to what you're posting and there isn't a semblance of cohesion (aside from "DEY TOOK OUR JOARBS" as NIH pointed out).

I never denied that. There are liberals that do that. There are moderates that do that. There are conservatives that do that. Et cetera. No political ideology has a monopoly on being a dick.

Bush sucks. Palin sucks. You're free to love them as much as you'd like. I don't particularly care for either.

Examples?

quote:

I have nothing against people of any race. They and their descendants deserve the same rights and opportunities as I and mine have.

There are issues and I have told it like it is.

Agreed on the first part. And what issues have you "told it like it is." And "telling it like it is" =/= giving instruction or opinion on anything. You act as if you're reporting fact. You're not. You're stating opinions and sprinkling a fact or two about.

I will ask you the same thing I asked Chinese 58 and got no response...You and a black man are after the same job(I am assuming you are white)...he is hired because of affirmative action policies..how would you feel?

I'd feel pretty shitty. I don't have a clue what that has to do with Rebel Black Bear.

quote:

Another question...you are walking through a predominately ethnic neighborhood and a group of young men fall in behind you....how would you feel?

Which ethnicity? In which city? Mind you, in some cities in some areas in some time periods, people as white as you or I were the predominant violent criminals. Asking that question doesn't prove a point.

what that has to do with Rebel Black Bear

This is why I didn't answer this question or continue the futile conversation.
Is this question being asked because you would have rather seen The University Of Mississippi select a polar bear instead of a black bear?

Serious note:
I have worked for the same company for over 30 years. It was started by a woman and is now owned by her daughters. They have always had more female managers than male managers. This practice does not bother me. If it did, I could leave and go work for someone else.

DC did not say you were from the 50's. I said the term "progressive whites" was from the 50's.
Your use of the term doesn't make you a racists but it lets people know you yourself come from an environment tha has not progressed.

I give you credit for this. You are very honest about how you feel.

I would feel at home since being white makes me a minority in the neighborhood where I currently live.

Maybe living in a city the size of Dallas, having had women & African American supervisors, having African American, Mexican, Korean and people of mixed races as friends has made me see the world differently than yourself.

You may be a nice guy but you did call people names and you did use code words. Just accept if and keep an open mind. Try to get out more.
