Disagree, LSU has probably the best recruiting staff in the league now. Although we are pulling this staff a little late to have the impact we want this year. You have 4 recruiters (2 Offense, 2Defense) of the year on staff plus Raymond (DBU) and Grimes on offensive line.
Auburn was masterful by hiring Muschamp and with Lance Thomas joining the staff it's going to get real at Auburn. Those guys are super recruiters too!
Texas AM got the man they wanted in Chavis. They have instant credibility now with Chief. I believe Haily joins the staff before long. This administrative role is a demotion and the writing is on the wall. Even though Brick is a really good recruiter in his own right.
Alabama is so far ahead of everyone in recruiting that it's almost unfair. They have a big hire to make. The question is where Smart coaches, linebackers or defensive backs. I think Bama needs to bring in Clark as the next DC after Kirby leaves. I have no idea about his recruiting but his Xs and O's will be very helpful to Saban.
Mississippi State bringing in Many Diaz as DC is interesting. You can expect State to continue building around their defense. I think State has changed the perspective of recruits as people witnessed a very strong defense last season.
Ole Miss has been off the chains recruiting both sides of the ball but I love the way they come up and challenge everything. Tremendous effort, pursuit and tackling this past year by Rebels. They almost stole Godchea from us down the stretch.
I'll rank the hires
1. Auburn - Not even close
2. a. Texas AM b. LSU - Tie
3. Mississippi St. - Diaz is solid but they missed on Coach O
4. a. Ole Miss b. Bama - Saban is so far above everyone (Hire will tell us a lot about mindset )

So it was better to hire one that was fired instead to give a native son a chance?
