Kentucky is a basketball blue blood...just get to a bowl and beat Tennessee once or twice every 30 years...plus his buyout was way too high.

What percentage of the roster is from Ohio would you say. I am guessing it will approach 30% soon of not already. Stoops needs to mine Ohio hard. I bet Ohio State passes on some guys they end up regretting.

Well... State has dominated piggy in recent seasons
and we're not paying a lot for a coach that doesn't lose at home by 30+ to school like north texas.

Stoops has done a good job at UK and is an underrated coach. Hell -- he's a better coach than you swine have had since Mr Motorcycle-accident.

Before you talk shite to Kentucky, why don't you tell the rant when Tennessee's last SEC win was.

Thought so.

I would say it's 20-30%. They do recruit Ohio hard and get a few players who would rather be in the SEC than the Big10. It's proven to be a good strategy so far.

Ohio's pretty high I think it's currently around 24 players currently on the team. They've had a slight shift to FL recruiting since Eddie Gran arrived. Heck we even managed to pull a 4 star linebacker out of Michigan.

Coming from a State alum/fan, I think UK has made a wise choice by sticking with Coach Stoops and allowing his program to develop.

Today so many of our SEC brethren have a microwave expectation of their football program and now with Saban raising the bar so high at Bama, some of them are chasing the proverbial pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

I get ridiculed for saying this but barring any personal indiscretion or some gross violation of the rules, or just several seasons of ridiculously bad football/records , a head coach should get 10 years when he is hired.

The average fan just does not realize that it takes time for a coach to implement his system and recruit his players.

The situation at State this year is very much the exception to the rule. We have a veteran team that has won football games, has confidence in themselves so basically Coach Moorhead this year has probably adjusted himself more to the players because of that.
But generally speaking, the first year for a coach is a struggle. So Florida, UT, Arkansas’s poor starts are not a surprise.

UK’s patience with Stoops is starting to pay off and I think will continue to going forward.

So looking forward to this game. Should be a good one.

In an age where "Win now or else" is the overwhelming sentiment of SEC athletic directors, UK instead chose to be patient with their investment and it's finally starting to pay off.

Have Mark's results to date been outstanding? No.
Have there been times where things looked pessimistic? Yes.
Have Mark's results improved steadily over the years, though? YES.

Granted it's still early in the season, but just one look at UK's football program today reveals a stable, competitive program that wasn't there 5 years ago.

After three straight losing seasons to start his career, no one would've blamed UK for canning him. Hats off to the admin for sticking with their pick because they believed he was right for the program.

I also think this reveals a silver lining to having a fanbase with realistic expectations: A football program with a steady foundation is easier to build.

Is that what Mullen did at MSU? Actually he left the football team in great shape and MSU found the right head coach to make it even better! This is what MIZZOU is doing right now. Barry Odom is the guy to try to make it happen at Missouri.

I can talk about Kentucky because quite frankly Tennessee has owned those suckers...had it not been for an idiot in Derek Dooley in 2011 and a dropped interception by Warrior last year we would own the longest current win streak in the country over them...

Butch Jones deserved another 5. I think Rant agrees

So had you not lost two separate games you would still have a long win streak? Boy that’s really something.

we too would have an incredible winning streak if we just ignored the losses

I really see no future at Kentucky for Mark Stoops. He has no where to go but down. He isn’t ever winning the sec. if he can get them to a major bowl and leave that would be best.

I'd be fine with that. He'd still be leaving us in a much better position than when he took the job. He's still pretty unproven but he's showed steady improvement and gotten us to two bowls. I mean we we're 2-10 getting blown out by Vandy with 2000 people in the stands when we fired Joker Phillips.

Neal Brown would likely be our first call if Stoops moved on.
