I think you are totally missing the point. Most of the heat on Petrino is not because he had an affair. Not many fans of any school would think that an affair is an offense worth of dismissal or even reprimand.

Petrino has other potential issues. Every university has code of conduct for professors and coaches with regard to students.

Did the affair begin while she was a student?

He hired his mistress as an employee. She is paid by ATH Dept funds, University funds. No matter how she got hired, if she was mistress at the time, he either used his position to help her get the gig or failed to mention to anyone that maybe just maybe it may not be a good idea to hire his mistress to a football operations position. Did he not have responsibility to to the AD or someone in the ADM to disclose the potential issue IF he was not behind the hiring in the first place? No matter how you slice it if she was mistress at time of her hiring it is a misuse of ATH department funds.

Filing a false police report. Violation of law but a minor one if not claiming insurance money.

Misleading employer about the accident and who was involved. If you have ever had employees you know how big an issue this is. You can't have it especially if the employee is someone who is followed by the media.

If Petrino is reprimanded or fired it will be the misuse of ATH Department funds and misleading Long and the Univ as the reason and not the affair.

He may survive it but the hiring of her in football operations while she was mistress is something most employers would have huge issue with.

I'm not missing the point because I had no point I was trying to make. I asked a question. You have said the same thing (albeit with more words) than about half a dozen other people in this thread.

We all know what the allegations against him are. That is not in question here, nor are the details surrounding it.

I was just simply curious if other people felt that doing these sort of things (or other questionable acts) are a norm among college football coaches and that they are just better at hiding it, or if Petrino is "unique" in that he likes piss in people's corn flakes more often than liked.

It is not the norm IMO.

LOL so calling out anyone who "preached" and using a Tebow holier than thou reference, a Mother Teresa reference and and reference to the Pope were intended to make any sort of point?

Perhaps you should revise your OP.

As I said most folks on here are not the moral police and care little about the affair.

If what you wish to know is does the average fan think all coaches are 100% faithful to their wives of course not.

Nor do we think other HC's never drink too much nor ever use illegal drugs. Surely some do.

Some have even been charged with DWI's.

Again not the point. None of that has ANYTHING to do with Petrino and the mess he has caused for himself.

If it makes you and other Hog fans feel better to embrace the fact that other coaches are not choir boys to excuse the actions of yours fine with me.

Just don't cloud whatever the hell point you are trying to make by accusing folks who have commented on the situation as folks

who "reach virtues of righteousness and cast stones in Arkansas' general direction for days now. I never realized that we had so many Popes and Mother Teresa's on these boards. Tebow would be proud. "

then deny you trying to make some point.

You don't have to be pure to look at the Petrino situation and come to the conclusion he screwed up and you don't have preach righteousness to point out that hiring your mistress is not about faith to one's religion or caring one way or another about his faithfulness to his wife to believe it is a stupid thing to do and misleading your employer is not exactly employee of the year material.

Finally no I think Petrino is an a very very small minority of perhaps ONE that has used University funds to hire his mistress, falsify accident report, mislead his employer about the accident, mislead his employer the nature of his relationship at the time of the accident to the other person involved and mislead his employer about the nature of the relationship at the time she was hired as an ath department employee.

Coaches are not perfect, none of them, but Petrino is in a very small minority not in terms of the extra marital affair, but the rest.

I would hope they are not stupid enough to put the damn girl on staff, or proceed like Petrino has in this case. I would fully expect them to be fired for lying, covering up, possibly violating ethics. Not cheating

Not really. It is more of an observation. Just like saying the sky is blue and grass is green. If you have been on this board at all, you would have seen countless people talking about how much a scum Petrino is. I stated my observation of that.

Now if I was to say that those people are wrong because of whatever reason, or was trying to argue for or against Petrino's actions, I would be making a point. I never did that. I simply posed a question. I'm very sorry if my hyperbole done in jest offended you or something.

No thanks.

I wouldn't say that. It seems like it is a pretty popular thing to talk about on here right now.

This is the first statement you have made that is actually valid to this thread. Well done!

Some have even been charged with DWI's.

Two in a row!

Again not the point. None of that has ANYTHING to do with Petrino and the mess he has caused for himself.

And then you say this. You were doing so well, too! That is COMPLETELY the point of this thread. Go back and read my entire OP.

Unfounded, brazen assumption that is completely wrong.

Read my OP again. You are going way off topic.

Further off-topic.

I agree that it probably isn't very common for him to do the exact things that he did.

Valid statement.

I'm not sure how it's possible to say that most coaches cheat on their wives.

I think it's more likely that most do not.

Feel free to join Petrino in a minority of one who thinks calling out folks who have "preached" in your opinion then asking a question about other coaches is not trying to make some sort of glass houses and casting of stones point.

Truly you should reread your OP, you even prefaced your question with "That being said". Even an elementary understanding of the English language points to the question you pose as accepting the "facts" as stated in your prior statement.

Kind of like when LSU's POSthug QB kicked a defenseless God loving jar head senseless?

Kind of like when Tennessee players beat an off duty cop half to death in a bar where they paid no cover charge.

Yea, we know how you feel. The difference is it was your coach. One of those "I'm a man, I'm 40" guys who has to know better.

BP is the face of Hog football and to some degree the UA and your state.

He has been proven to be a liar, a man who cheats on his wife/family, a man who abuses his position, and pretty much a arrogant SOB.

You really shouldn't worry bout your SEC Brother HC and what sins they may or may not have, but you should worry bout how retarded yours has proved himself to be.

Feel free to think what you want, as wrong as it may be.

I forgot that if somebody says "that being said" it automatically means they were trying to prove a point.

I guess I missed that in my elementary school classes!

Actually, I think your coach is part of a particularly slimey morality impaired minority. I'm sure you'll be proud if they manage to find some way to avoid firing him, because wins are more important than those silly little HR rules that the peons are bound by.
