Yep. Dye was determined Bama would not weasel and chichenshit their way out of playing AU in AU forever.

AU's facilities stadium and program were much greater than anything Bama had at the time. AU was busy winning or tying for their 3rd straight SEC championship in 1989 and beating Bama for the 4th time in a row.

No it doesn't. And I guess you were too dumb or young to even know Bryant Denny was a little piece of shite nothing in the 80's? JH made it look silly back then.

ETA: You were obviously too young to have any idea what you are talking about since you were in elementary school in the 1980's or kindergarten and probably had never been to AU. So tell me why are you trying to talk shite when you do not know what you are talking about?

Ah. Ok. JH is still a very impressive stadium any way you cut it. I said in a thread before, I think BD is prettier now and will soon be significantly bigger.

Still does not change the fact JH is a top notch place to play.

I have to agree with the Aubs a bit here (not with the hyperbole, of course). I was young at the time but I remember when all of this started to go down I argued all the time with other Bama fans about how good this was going to be in intensifying an already heated rivalry. Me and my dad had 50 yard line tickets to every Legion field game, but I always questioned the value of playing there. I Knew it would definitely take our home field advantage away but the value of playing home/away makes it far more exciting to be apart of. I was so glad it happened.

I was at 3 of the iron bowls in the 80's at LF, but it was a dying venue with aweful parking in dangerous areas where you didn't know if your car would be there after the game if you didn't pay the guy on the corner enough.

The atmosphere of the game at JH in '89 was the best the series had ever seen and the build up was greater than any before it.
