I've heard that Kiffin left some coaches behind so that the university would either have to keep them or pay them buyouts to fire them. I don't know what their contracts say, but since they're employees of the university and if the new coach does not want them on his staff. Could the university just assign them to like janitorial duties and force them to quit? Instead of paying buy outs. Just curious.

I have no problem holding onto Jim Cheney, Lance Thompson, and Kippy Brown...They are all great coaches in their own right...Dooley is going to need a strong staff to succeed, and those three put him in a good position.

I don't know if legally UT could do that, but I would guess probably not. Either way that would be very unprofessional.

Ok, but I have heard some UT fans pissed about the fact that those coaches were left behind just to get fired and force the university to pay buyouts.

I guess my question should have been, If the university does not want a certain coach and does not want to pay the buyout. Would they be able to give them toilet scrubbing duties or does their contract state they must be coaches?

Just a guess, but I would think their agents would have something in their contract to prevent things like this from happening, but who knows? Maybe someone that knows something about this will jump in.

As a Vol fan,I would hope that our coaching staff would never stoop to something like that.

I guarantee that is why reaves stayed. He is kiffins brother in law. No way they didn't plan that shite.

We will prolly have to pay the buyout to can him and watch him take the QB coach job at USC the next day. Low rent bullshite but what can we do ?

If they don't, then their attorney probably committed malpractice.
