Pushing and shoving- football facewashing

Alright so in hockey facewashing is common and no one bats an eye, me included. So why do I cringe at end of play shoving and feel like it should be a personal foul when any sort of chippyness happens? Is it because I feel a bench clearing brawl in football would be more destructive than they are in hockey? Someone explain my hypocrisy
