This conversation comes up on the rant every single year and Auburn is always much better than what any other fan base says.

Do you know what the term "selection bias" means?

That's peachy coming from a Bama fan. 1941 says hello.

National Championships aren't a moral victory. They're an actual victory.

You win every game but LSU, Arkansas, and Georgia.

I have a feeling Auburn beats Alabama this year.

1941 isn't a moral victory... I'm not really sure what it is. It was more of a total revision of the history books. It would kinda be like USCe claiming the title last year because Garcia held them back from greatness. Sometimes you just can't justify stupidity.

True, but I think you lost the irony in my post. 1941 was neither

Alabama (9-2) lost to Mississippi State (SEC champs) and Vanderbilt. The Tide finished ranked 20th in the Associate Press Poll, behind four SEC teams.

You are my new favorite Bama poster.

Thank you

Goodness, this thread was a homerun!

I'll wait for the official thread to post my detailed prediciton/anaylysis of Au's W & L record for this upcoming football season. I will say that I do not see Au losing less than 3 games, in fact IMO they have 3 L's for sure, with more than likely 1 more depending on how ARK reacts to the new Coach. Sure L's Bama, LSU, UGA, Probable L ARK, Toss Up games: A & M, State, Clempson. Au seems to always win 1 more than I truely think so I'll go with 8-4 and a Bowl Game Loss

t's also a better chance of 14 than 2, but neither of those is likely to happen. 7-9 likely, with above 8 being a really strong year and below 8 being a disappointment.

Here are the Vegas lines, as first tweeted by Andrew Gribble of the Knoxville News Sentinel. Here, we present Auburn versus...

Mississippi State a 1-point favorite
Clemson a 5-point favorite
South Carolina a 9-point favorite
Arkansas a 9-point favorite
Florida a 3-point favorite
LSU 11-point favorite
Georgia a 9-point favorite
Alabama a 12-point favorite

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that 8 games we were supposed to lose?

Now then we play 12 regular season games. So....
12 - 8 = 4

You're gonna hurt their lil pea brains with that math stuff, darlin'.

Even Updyke won't talk about 1941.

Yeah, Auburn sure has struggled to win in Starkville in the last 10 years (*cough* *5-and-0* *cough*) haven't they?

Are you serious?

Minnesota (8-0) swamped Duke (9-0) - now coached by Wallace Wade - in the final poll voting with 84.5 to 9.5 first-place votes. (1941 AP Poll) Minnesota swept the consensus picks (AP, CFRA, HAF, NCF). How can you be a national champion when you do not win your conference (don't bring up last year either...the two are not related), were ranked 20th and had two more losses than the consensus champion?

1941 was the last year anyone claimed a championship who did not win the AP or Coaches Poll. Only Houlgate picked Alabama.

If it's not a moral victory or an actual victory, then why are you bringing it up as a moral victory? That isn't irony. It's just lying.

So? Does that mean we get to count ones we WEREN'T given simply because we have a better resume than the ones who did get them? Nope. We got it. We count it. It was 71 years ago. DWI.

Are you this obtuse IRL?

The Iron Bowl wasn't played for 41 years due to issues regarding player per diem, officiating, and other petty disagreements.
