He never had possession with anything but a foot on the ground.
According to the NCAA rulebook, that's Bama ball.
quote:
Simultaneous catches are addressed in the rule books under NCAA 2-2-8,7-3-6; NFHS rule2-4-3,7-5-4
Here are some examples to illustrate what is and what is not a simultaneous catch:
* Two opposing players receive a ball while both are off the ground, and one player returns to the ground inbounds before the other. RULING: No simultaneous catch. The legal forward pass is
completed or intercepted by the player who first returned to the ground (Rule 2-2-8).
That's why that foot is important.
It's either a catch by Bama due to that foot coming down first, or it's a simultaneous catch - which is awarded to the offense.
I don't think there is any way to argue that the ball should have been awarded to LSU.

Well the Bama poster wins this thread. So many self-rustled jimmies in this thread.

Entire body on the ground with two hands on the ball.

I feel like if I was a UT fan, these pics of Dooley wouldn't piss me off. The guy just looks sad and pathetic

Start watching at the 1:00 mark and refer back to the NCAA rule on simultaneous catches and such:

The he lost possession before anything besides his foot hits the ground. That's why it doesn't matter. You still have to finish the play. Williams didn't.

Catch is completed when the player is down. Watching that video, it doesn't look like he loses possession until the ball is ripped from his hands after he's on the ground.

The LSU umps were paid to call that play for LSU.
Nothing new that they would try to steal a game
Lsu does that against Bama...
