That's why that foot is important.
It's either a catch by Bama due to that foot coming down first, or it's a simultaneous catch - which is awarded to the offense.
I don't think there is any way to argue that the ball should have been awarded to LSU.

The he lost possession before anything besides his foot hits the ground. That's why it doesn't matter. You still have to finish the play. Williams didn't.

Catch is completed when the player is down. Watching that video, it doesn't look like he loses possession until the ball is ripped from his hands after he's on the ground.
