Tennessee/Arkansas was arguably The Big Game for Arkansas back in the 90s. Tennessee was great in the 90s...

edit: My avi is from the "post" '99 Tennessee game on Dickson Street.

things the SEC will never do.

That would include this...

making Bama choose between Tenn and Auburn as permanent cross division rivals

but not this...

missing out on the annual LSU-Auburn game

The SEC has sacrificed Auburn-Tennessee (1992 with the first expansion), Auburn-Florida (2002 with the schedule format change), Ole Miss-Tennessee (1992), LSU-Kentucky (2002), Alabama-Vanderbilt (2002) and Florida-Miss. St. (1992). All of those, along with some others that were also sacrificed, were longer-running traditional rivalries than LSU-Auburn. The SEC would not bat an eye at getting rid of that "rivalry".

Honestly, if the really old-time traditional rivalries were to be honored, Florida should be in the West. Their only true historic rivals in the East are Georgia and maybe Kentucky, but they had long-running series with SEC West members LSU, Miss. St. and Auburn (who will not be moved to the East unless Alabama goes with them due to the first item addressed above).

I guess they could move both Alabama and Auburn to the East and move Missouri and someone else to the West. But who? The most logical (from a historical standpoint) would be Florida as noted above, but that's only if Auburn is in the West. Geographically, I guess Vandy would make the most sense, but that would represent a major power shift from West to East, with the West trading two of its three best programs for two of the East's three or four worst. Poor Kentucky and South Carolina would be screwed having to play in a division with Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia and Tennessee.

LSU would be sitting pretty, though!

I'd have no problem moving to the West as long as we still got to play UGA annually.

My #1 choice stills remains sending Mizzou & Aggie back to the Big12 where they belong.

Not if you want your AD to keep cashing the fat SEC Network checks you started getting after adding the Aggies and Mizzou.

I just don't see this happening. I would think Alabama would block this move. One reason the SEC is so strong is shared TV revenue. However behind the scenes a team like Alabama has more pull. It is easily understandable that Alabama brings in more eyeballs than most member schools. But that money is shared equally. The Big 12 has to deal with Texas and their outright greed. Big 12 TV money isn't shared equally (That doesn't even account for their network either.). However, Alabama wields power behind closed doors to get what they want. It's not in the best interest of Alabama to let Auburn move. It is a high priority to preserve the annual rivalry between Auburn AND Tennessee. I would not be surprised if Alabama negotiated a clause at some point that keeps those rivalries intact. Saban has mentioned at times he is in favor of a 9 game conference schedule. I would be in favor of this. This could allow 2 permanent cross division opponents. Then I could accept Auburn moving. But honestly, who would really want that? I want the Iron Bowl to have as much as possible riding on it. It's more interesting if they are in the same division. It creates the possibility of playing for the SEC West title. It's not as fun if that game doesn't carry that weight.

Now you're putting UGA in the spot of ending "WLOCP" or "DSOR"
